Hi,

I have an iPhone 3GS covered under my phone insurance however, when I bought it I had to jailbreak it to unlock it to my SIM as Orange refused to do anything with it as the friend I bought it from had already cancelled their contract with them (good customer service!)

Does jail-breaking invalidate any insurance?

Needless to say, it's been dropped in water

It does invalidate the warranty, but I don't see any reasons for it to invalidate insurance. Just read the policy after all to make sure.
However, all insurances do require the proof of purchase and this can be a problem in your case.

It doesn't invalid the warranty, I was recommended by a guy in my local orange to jailbreak mine and he ensured me it wouldn't made it invalid. Google it?
