Lovely pics and well done Barclaycard :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Not great, but not disastrous either. Fingers crossed I'm not going to need to put any fuel in the car this month - I have over 200 miles in the tank still. We're off to collect the final batch of hay for the year, 40 bales which will be £120, and then Robbie the farrier is here on Wednesday which will be another £40.
I did get my hair cut though. While I was in Inverness I went past a salon advertising walk-in appointments from £15 - I ended up paying £21, but that's still cheaper than the place I normally use up here. I've had 8" of hair cut off and quite literally feel light-headed! It now sits just on my shoulders.
Mr Minx came home from work yesterday with a bit of a bombshell. He's been approached by a headhunting firm. The money they're talking about is astronomical (more than 3 times his current salary plus full relocation package plus all housing costs paid for the length of the contract) BUT the job is in Australia!
I shouldn't think anything will come of it, there'd be an awful lot of hoops to jump through between him being sounded out about it and actually being offered the job, but he's flattered to have been thought of and it's nice to have a daydream about a new life in the sunshine

£111 for the camera, camera filter, dress and Clinique samples this afternoon and three of the four have paid immediately

Not such good news on the business front, only £318 in PayPal at the moment (though Sunday nights can be quite busy, so fingers crossed). At the moment I can only afford to pay myself about £600 on 1st March
Still, I've listed all the new stock that came in on Thursday and for some of the cheaper bangle blanks I've done variation listings so people can buy 1 on its own or have a pack of 10 and get a discount. Someone's bought a 10-pack already
I've also re-designed my listing template and it looks much, much better.
So it looks like funds will be tight next month, but we're moving into the cheaper 8 months of the year horse-wise (fingers crossed!) and at least the weather is fantastic up here at the moment, that really makes a difference.0 -
Well you're doing better than me ebaywise. I made 2p profit on one thing that finished today & 4p on another... :rotfl:"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0

Having housing costs paid is a good thing, depending on the details (i.e. how much they will pay for) as housing is very expensive in major Australian cities. Ludicrously so. Just be aware that most expats agree that an equivalent salary in AUD is somewhere around GBP salary x 2.5, give or take, rather than current exchange rate. You may already know that of course and have factored it in, but just thought I'd throw it out there!0 -
Thanks to a good Sunday evening, payday is now up to £850. But my personal current account bank statement arrived and next month's interest bill is £46.95.
All a big game of snakes and ladders isn't it?
I tapped all my details into the Nationwide soft search credit card form a moment ago and it came back with £2800 at 19.9% on their 20 month 0% balance transfer offer. According to the threads on the credit card board, this is borderline for being accepted, so I didn't carry on to the full application. It would have been nice to empty that 16.9% old Egg card though.
Despite all this, YNAB is still showing the Over-Budgeted figure reducing. Not very fast, admittedly, but it's going in the right direction.0 -
I think today can safely be described as One Of Those Days. I woke up this morning to find I'd got cystitis out of nowhere, so have been feeling grotty all day. I had to pay the car tax (£135) and then my farrier didn't turn up.
Actually, bless him, I'm not cross with the farrier. Whenever he books you in, he always warns afternoon appointments are approximate, due to slippage throughout the day. He's usually within half an hour or so, so I shut the horses onto the hard standing area with some hay at 2.30 and then went to weed the garden until he was due at 3. Five borders later I checked the time, found it was nearly 4pm, left a message on his voicemail and 15 minutes later got the most apologetic man you can imagine on the phone! He'd taken my original call on the move, there wasn't anywhere to pull over and by the time he got to his next stop he forgot to put it in his diary - he said he'd been thinking all day today that there was somewhere he was supposed to be, but knew that his diary was up to date! So he's coming on Monday morning and he's insisting that there'll be no charge. At the moment, I'm insisting on paying him, because these things happen and it's not like he's not going to do the job at all - I suspect we'll have a friendly argument and settle on him doing Merlin for free and me paying for Finn, because Finn at the moment is not a pony that any farrier should have to deal with for free! Though he's getting better.
I'm off to see my business bank manager next Wednesday, she hasn't seen me for a couple of years so has asked me to go in for a catch up and a chat. I'm going to take three years of accounts, a cash flow forecast and my most persuasive sales pitch and see if I can convince her to up my overdraft facility to £10k. I know my turnover is down on what it used to be, but the business makes a far better net profit percentage-wise now - all I need is a working capital injection to buy more of the good-margin stock. Computer will probably say no though, and I don't think she has the authority to over-ride it, but it's worth a try
