  • It is a hideous, hideous day here - it's cold, it's raining and the wind is gusting to 45mph, so I came in from doing the horses looking like an extra out of a fish finger advert! They're having their first day shut onto the shelter area, so I'll nip down at lunchtime and make sure there hasn't been a punch up. Since they were on it voluntarily most of the night, I shouldn't think there'll be a problem, but Merlin can get very pushy when there's food around.

I've done the November business cashflow and rather wish I hadn't, it's a bit :eek::eek: - but better to know where I stand I suppose. It looks like this:

    Current available cash: £1602.81

    Outflows:
    6/11 - TNT (VAT and import duties) - £727.84
    8/11 - eBay fees - £404.44
    10/11 - ekm (website shop subscription) - £23.99
    15/11 - supplier - £1100.37
    16/11 - SagePay (payment gateway) - £30.00
16/11 - Streamline (card processing fees) - £12 (guesstimate, not had invoice yet)
16/11 - BT - £25 (guesstimate, not had bill yet)
    28/11 - Royal Mail - £725.09
    29/11 - supplier - £1256.64
    30/11 - VAT prepayment - £960.00
    1/12 - Drawings - £1500.00

leaves me needing to find another £5179.02 by 1st December :eek::eek: That £2k may not get paid off the card after all....:(
  • A couple of nice big orders overnight meant I banked £467.50 this morning with £10 still in PayPal and another £75 waiting to clear through card payments (got an email from my payment gateway saying there'd been a problem with NatWest Streamline overnight and so the money has been delayed).

I had to dash into town yesterday to look at rubber matting before the person who'd actually ordered them came to pick them up. They were perfect for what I need and so I've ordered four for Finn's shelter. I also filled up the car (diesel up here is currently £1.479 a litre!) and popped into the vet to get a new dog collar :D I'm happy to re-use leads, but I can never bring myself to remove the old name tag from a collar, so little Dora (or Jura as we're going to call her) has got a new one. Everyone at the vet was so happy for us and they can't wait to meet her - I've said I'll take her in once she's settled in a bit just to meet everyone and be put on the scales, so she doesn't immediately associate it with nasty things like booster jabs.
  • Another £250 banked this morning with that delayed £75 still to come as well. I now 'only' need to take another £4461.52 by 1st December.

It looks like I'm going to miss my first ever PAD on Saturday - I'm off to Edinburgh tomorrow and I'm not taking my laptop. I suppose I could schedule one to go out... or is that cheating??? :rotfl:

The Barclaycard-formerly-known-as-Egg finally spat out a statement this morning, rather later than normal, so more interest than normal too :( I may just still scrape in at under £100 in personal interest charges for the month though, fingers crossed.
  • There is a vicious (it's taken me five attempts to spell that and I'm still not sure it's right!) rumour that it might actually be Monday today. I'm not sure where Friday, Saturday and Sunday went, but I've been presented with photographic and video evidence that it included dancing on a chair. The really worrying thing is that I hadn't drunk anything stronger than water!

In short, I had an absolutely brilliant time in Edinburgh with 20 friends :D and still have £11 and some shrapnel left of the £80 spending money I took with me - which given that it had to cope with Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunches and Friday and Saturday suppers, drinks, cake and bus tickets, is nothing short of a minor miracle.

I'm now going to attempt to do the scores on the doors, this may go horribly wrong...

    (last week/this week/ + or - amount)
    Business
    Overdraft: -£4312.35 / -£2887.14 +£1425.21
    Barclaycard: -£2000.00 / -£2000.00 no change

    Business total: -£6312.35 / -£4887.14 +£1425.21

    Personal
    Overdraft: -£2100.00 / -£2405.00 -£305.00
    Egg card: -£3295.00 / -£3262.05 +£32.95
    Dental loan: -£250.00 / -£250.00 no change
    Barclaycard: -£2883.90 / -£2883.90 no change

    Personal total: -£8528.90 / -£8800.95 -£272.05

    Grand total: -£14,841.25 / -£13,688.09 +£1153.16

That just happens to be 50.3% of the debt now paid off :D I'm not getting too :j:j:j:j about it though, as it's all down to cash building up in the business account (well, the overdraft coming down, to be precise) ready for all those outflows in the last few days of the month. Nice to be peeking into the second half of paying it off though.
  • The business cashflow is slowly coming in - now down to £3377.39 needed by 1st December, or £1877.39 if I delay paying myself, so I'm pretty certain that the bills will get paid even if I don't.

    Right, jobs to do today:
    - Pack and post orders
    - Ironing
    - Check if any of the dog beds need washing
    - Go for a run
    - Post supplier cheque
    - Ring the farrier
    - Flatten all the cardboard boxes in the annexe
    - Finish dog-proofing annexe as far as possible
    - Take 2 x strings of 14mm black glass beads off the stock spreadsheet
    - Send out replacement for cabochons lost in post to customer

Wow, everything on that list got done bar the ironing and the dog-proofing - not bad!

Anyway, today is a good day, I have a small announcement to make:

THE TOOTH FAIRY LOAN IS PAID OFF!

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:T:T:T:T:T:T:j:j:j:j:j:j:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:
It's been 2 years of £250 a month, so it's going to make a big difference to personal cashflow as it was the largest payment I had going out. It was interest free so in a sense it's the worst one to have paid off first, but it gives me an extra lump to chuck at something else.

I was considering cutting my drawings to £1250 until the horrible-rate-Barclaycard is dealt with, as it's 1% higher than the NatWest overdraft, but then remembered that I need to pay £1500 a month into my First Direct account or they'll start charging me £10 a month, so it's as we were and that £250 will now be transferred to the overdraft on the first of each month :)

    Yay, well done :)

They can't get repossessed now :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • I always did wonder what would happen if I defaulted on it - would they make me wear the aligners in reverse order to put them back how they were? :p

I had a bit of a nasty surprise yesterday, the Streamline invoice came, which is normally £10, and was for £48.15 instead :eek: This is all to do with registration for PCI DSS compliance - I'm compliant, but they charge me £31.99 plus VAT a year for providing a statement to the relevant authorities to confirm it. I did get a letter a few months ago warning me that they were starting to charge, I just forgot to make a note of when it was due. Oh, and they're also charging me £1.80+VAT a month for having a paper statement from now on, so I must figure out how to go online only - as far as I'm aware, I don't have any kind of log-in facility for their website.

Right, I have a gazillion and one things to do before we head south on a spaniel snaffling expedition tomorrow :D Mr Minx is threatening to leave at 5.30am so we get to his brother's house in daylight :eek: so this will probably be my last post until Monday when I'll try and have a bit of a catch up (new dog, orders and equine dentist all permitting....)
  • Have a good trip down south and enjoy your week-end. :D
    June 16 Mortgage Amount £82,896.15
Official mortgage end date August 2027 :(
Current rate 2.59% until August 2020
  • Oh, I forgot to say - my 6.9% life of balance transfer offer has popped up again on the horrible-rate-Barclaycard. Unfortunately I've got no non-Barclaycards to transfer anything from and they won't give me a current account transfer. Really annoying, as it would be nice to shift the personal overdraft to 6.9%! That card statement should generate today, so I'll find out what the final interest bill for the month is when I'm back.
