  • Just finished my proofreading shift, it's been a busy day. I only had four files, the first one was absolutely perfect and took no time whatsoever, the other three were slightly more problematical plus I was using the agency's proprietary software for the first time. It's going to speed things up a lot once I get used to it, but while I'm still learning it, I'm going to be slow, which is frustrating.

Other things done today: house cleaned, ironing done, laundry done, bed linen changed, bedroom decluttered, 2 miles run, shower had, Europe cheered home in the Ryder Cup, about two thirds of tomorrow's orders packed (still have the massive £425 one to do) and husband welcomed home.

Going to have a quick browse around Crew Clothing, as they have 20% off until midnight and I have a voucher to use which expires on the 30th - if I can find something I like that's a bargain, I might just treat myself, otherwise the voucher's going in the bin and I'll save the cash.
  • Huge pat on the back for getting past 50% - is it a great relief/feeling?
Did you find anything from crew clothing? I've been avoiding looking as I have no money spare and that's always when I see something! If I have a coupon etc then guaranteed I won't see anything :)

You've been crazy busy but that is why you're half way there - just fabulous for you.

Take care of yourself, remember people like me keep motivated from people like you :);)

Aw, that's such a lovely thing to say, thank you :o:o Funnily enough, it's not actually that much of a relief - more 'Dear Gods, I hope the second 50% doesn't take as long as the first!'. Didn't find anything I liked on the Crew website, or not that I liked enough to justify the amount I'd still have had to spend, anyway!

Surprise, surprise, it's been another mad Monday. Despite getting orders packed yesterday, I had another 22 come in overnight, so I was working my way through those when six proofreading files arrived. Dropped everything to do those, because they were needed urgently, finished the orders, got an email from financial advisor chap with some work, took the orders to the post office, made myself a salad about 3pm and ate it at my desk whilst reading through financial advisor chap's instructions, completed his initial work and the follow-up work that came through while I was doing it, fed the horses, shovelled another barrowload of manure, did my workout in the field shelter (not as mad as it sounds, my pull-up bar is in the rafters of Finn's shelter!), hung out the laundry, had my half-hour weekly Monday night chat with my mother and then collapsed on the sofa with a bowl of Mr Minx's sausage casserole around 8pm.

I already have proofreading work for tomorrow along with eight orders. I also have the library coming and a long workout that involves running a mile and then walking for the amount of time it took to run the mile, repeated three times. Took me 65 minutes last time, I'm hoping to knock a couple of minutes off, since my ankle feels better (at least, it survived 120 backside-to-ankle full squats this evening with no protests).

I'm tired just reading that. You must be incredibly efficient is all I can say! I have a feeling the second 50% will be done in considerably less time than the first ;)

  • Forgot to say yesterday, I had a lovely, lovely email from the most recent transcription client:

"Oh wow, this is super professional! I'm not used to such user-friendly transcribing, thank you!!"

Hopefully that means she'll book me again :D:D:D

End of month today, total bead shop cash banked £8,716.21, nearly £1,000 up on last month. 24 orders sent out today, proofreading done, the library van called (with a bit of eyebrow raising because the book I'd ordered on shamanism had arrived!), only managed one barrowload of manure instead of the normal two, but did get my workout done which was a long one today - run a mile, walk for the same length of time it took to run the mile, repeat three times. It's a re-test week, when I did this three weeks ago I completed it in 65 minutes 50 seconds. Today it was much windier, my ankle is still a little sore and I kept having to stop and turn early or completely stop due to loose collies running around one end of the village and someone moving young sheep at the other. Today I totally smashed it in 61 minutes 30 seconds and the last mile was the fastest at 9.48.

I have to say, I know it costs £30 a month (or costs Mr Minx £30 a month, to be more precise ;) ) for my email coaching from Kris, but it's worth every penny. If I wasn't paying for it, I wouldn't make time to do these workouts, but they're so good for me, mentally. I started out tonight feeling stressed about all the stuff I've got to do in the next couple of months and by the time I'd run the first half mile, my brain had started to switch off and relax and I watched the sun get lower in the sky, listened to the stags roaring on the hill, waved to all my neighbours and came home in a really good mood without a care in the world.
  • I need to take a leaf out of your relaxation book Caz. I generally feel like that after I ride but on the days I don't/can't I feel tense and know I do. So your words are floating around my brain seeing how I can use that for myself.....

Great that the bead shop is 1k up - Christmas orders I presume? and same for the positive feedback! :)

Not too many orders to go today, but I got a nice £20-worth of transcription to kick off the month on top of the normal day's proofreading. I spent the afternoon sorting out invoices - £692.26 + VAT in total split between the agency and two private clients. The agency should pay by the 7th, the other two will be end of this month/midway through next I think, so 75% of the agency money will go to the Nationwide card in YNAB and the other two invoices will go to next month's money, even if they're paid earlier.

So that's £468.69 to the Nationwide plus off the top of my head I already have £236 allocated to it in YNAB, for a total of £704.69. I am very tempted to borrow some money out of the tax bill savings (which won't be needed until Jan 2016) and pay the whole thing off this month, just to make absolutely sure I don't pay any interest on it, as the 0% expires in November but I'm not 100% certain what date.

    Fabulous news Caz, great going.

I would go with your instinct of paying it off and replacing the other money. You'll be kicking yourself if you pay interest after this hard slog.

    Congrats!
