  • This is roughly what I look like at the moment after a ton and a half of proofreading today:
    ....
Actually there's another reason to celebrate - the amount paid off has *just* tipped over the £9,000 mark confetti.gif

I said I was going to have a look at this week's earnings, didn't I? As a summary - proofreading £200, transcription £0, 10% of bead bankings £164.21, so £364.21 in total. Not quite as stellar as I thought, but over my target £350, so I'm happy with that. Though the 10% is a bit academic now, since sales picked up - I paid myself another £450 today, so another £100 on Monday and that'll be my £1300 for the month :D
That is brillant news. The lower the debts the less stress you will be under.

Well I have had a very bad day.:(I have never felt so fed up.:(:( I think I mentioned that I wanted to open a wool and craft shop. WELL someone is opening up one in the town. I could cry:( Why is there not a smile with tears in it?

I wanted to open one in the town but at the minute our finances do not permit it.
I have done a business plan and if I open a shop at least €800 will go in rates, rent electricity insurance water a week. That is before buying any stock and shop fit out has a cost as well. Dont forget have to pay the tax man and get a wage.
There is very little foot fall in the town at the moment due to high unemployment level so that was stopping me as well.

Competition:There is another store in the town that sells wool but he sells curtains and bed linen so people would normally go into the city than buy from him. But ignorant with the customers.

I wanted to start with a website and sell on line first and do a few craft fairs and if things picked up I would start classes etc to bring up the income and then open a physical shop. Oh why did I wait? So fed up now.

I would only have access to credit cards as the banks are still giving nothing. Well I have a big stash of wool in the house and have been to a few suppliers to see if they would sell to me...the it was just the money thing holding me back. Hubby said take a leap of faith but I am a bit late now.

Will it ever happen or was i too late?

:( You're not too late - if they haven't worked through the bills in the same way that you have, they won't last. A craft shop opened in Inverness in the middle of last year, I walked past it on the way back from holiday, it's already closed down. Definitely start online and see how you go.

We (well, Mr Minx) had a slightly expensive day :o The stock trailer needed new wheels, because the ones on it were the original ones (about 25 years old), rusted to bits and had enormous tractor-type tyres on them which added significantly to the amount of fuel it takes to tow it. So while I was away, Mr Minx called in at the local Ifor Williams dealership to find out if replacements could be ordered and how much for. Sure, no problem, they don't hold them in stock but they can order them and they take about 10 days to come up. On his way home from work yesterday, Mr Minx called in again to order them, trying to time it so they'd arrive after he's been paid this month. 'No problem,' says the owner, who happened to be around. 'I've got a trailer coming up from Inverness tonight, I'll give them a ring and get them to chuck four wheels in it, you can pick them up in the morning.' Ooops. Fortunately he had enough in his savings account to cover the £372+VAT....!

Other than that(!) it's not been too spend-y a day. The Tesco bill was under £80, I took Mr Minx out for lunch (£11.98 in Wetherspoons) and I filled up the car - I had less than 40 miles left in the tank and I thought it was going to be about £80, which is what I had budgeted in YNAB. Nope, £64.95 :D and that should last me well into the middle of next month.

Isn't good customer service and efficiency rather annoying when you're skint :rotfl:.

Great stuff on the takings and proof reading recently.

So what have I been up to today? LOTS of proofreading :D I'm guessing I won't be able to invoice them £4 for each 3 minute file ;) but I've suggested that of the ten in that set, I invoice the 62 minute and the 26 minute at £4 each and then lump the other eight (totaling 28 minutes) as one more £4. I'm hoping they think that's fair.

Other than that, I've cleaned the house from top to bottom, packed up some orders, blocked up a hole under the fence in the bottom field (I sprayed it for thistles and docks yesterday and to my horror, saw that two of the neighbour's lambs had got into it this morning - hope they're okay :(), trundled round the fields with a wheelbarrow and plastered the boys with arnica cream, because BOTH of them have been bitten by next door's new stallion  Hopefully they'll learn to be sensible and leave him alone from now on.

I thought you were writing a book or something with all this proofreading ... then I realised you get paid for it. Must stop skim reading. ;)

I put my big girl pants on this morning and sorted out the 0% shuffle. I always get slightly nervous doing this, because I always think I'm going to be rejected, but no :D I have a brand spanking shiny new Halifax card on the way, 24 months at 0% with a 1.5% transfer fee. My credit record must be a bit shinier than it was when I got the Nationwide card, because I asked for £4630 to transfer the Egg card balance and they gave me a limit of £6000.

So the next balance to fall off 0% is the Nationwide in the autumn. The Egg/Barclaycard will, in all probability, have a BT offer on it by the time that comes round, but I think I may be able to get it all paid off before then. I've changed my target card to it anyway.
