Ooh, actually I haven't. I need to clarify what the pay rate is, one invoice template says £2.50 per file and the other says £4.00 per file. For obvious reasons, I'm hoping it's the latter; I've emailed them to clarify but haven't had an answer back yet. Not an issue until 1st June anyway. If it's £4.00 per file, that equates to 8.88888888.... minutes per file.
Anyway, there appears to be something wrong with my NatWest current account this morning, in that it has just over £1200 in it (that's correct, I'm just not used to seeing four figure sums without a minus sign in front of them :rotfl:). Together with the £1300 in the bills account, I'm feeling veryright now! Of course, it's all spent already (or allocated, anyway), but it's quite a strange feeling having money again.
Today's been a sorting-out kind of day. The orders went out (£160 banked, but the eBay tap has turned off again and I have less than a tenner's-worth to go tomorrow), I had a really nice transcription file that I could whizz through, I invoiced the transcription company for £365+VAT, I got all the set-up prep done for starting the proofreading work (I signed up for tonight's shift, but all the work had been allocated - hopefully I'll get some tomorrow) and I took the photos of the kitchen roof and roofing quotes to send to the insurance company and filled out the claim form.
I'm very proud of Mr Minx this evening - he's decided that all of his annual bonus, which was paid today, is going towards his long-standing credit card balance. The only reason it's not going to get paid off in full this month is because he needs to keep some money aside in case the insurance doesn't pay out, if they do he'll be able to nuke the lot.0 -

Well done to both of you - as for Mr M, it's just lovely when they make the right decisions all on their own, isn't it! makes me realise how it must feel to be a parent sometimes when MrEH does that!

TFI Friday, I've had a day of it! Yesterday evening I was trying to renew my online back-up service for the work PC. Clicking on the 'Renew Now' link in the actual program took me to their UK site and a price of £99.99 for the year, which I thought was a lot more expensive than I remembered, so I logged into my account on their US site, where I'd originally registered, and found that there it was US$99.99. Quite a difference, so I tried to renew on the US site and it wouldn't accept my RBS debit card. Emailed their customer service team and got a reply this morning that said the bank had rejected it, please try again. Did so, same response. Tried my NatWest debit card, same problem. So I stuck 'Ring bank' on the mental to-do list and didn't think any more about it until I tried to pay nearly £800 to my UK main supplier this afternoon. The RBS card was rejected, the NatWest card was rejected and I ended up having to pay them out of the First Direct bills account and transferring the money straight across from RBS.
So, a bit miffed, I rang up RBS to find out what was going on. They said their fraud team wanted to speak to me and transferred me over. Their fraud team said I hadn't answered all their security questions correctly (!!!!!!?? I think I know my full name, address, date of birth and age next birthday thank you) and I'd have to go into my branch with photographic identification before they'd unblock my account :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: To add insult to injury, I went into the house and found they'd been trying to contact me on that number, a number that should have been taken off the account nearly four years ago! (And no, phone number wasn't one of the security questions they asked me.)
It was with trepidation that I then rang NatWest, knowing I'd have to go through the same thing again. Chalk and cheese. They couldn't have been nicer and they got me unblocked in about two minutes flat, which is a good thing because my nearest branch is about six hours' drive away in England!
Anyway, some scores on doors.

Well, I understand why RBS gave me a grilling on the phone now. I went into the branch this morning, where they know me, handed over my passport and somehow their computer system has managed to replace my date of birth with my husband's  We do hold a joint savings account at the same branch, but it was opened quite a while after the business account, which is in my sole name. Most peculiar, they're not quite sure how it happened, but it's been put right now and my card is unblocked.
I got my first proofreading work last night. I was assigned eight files to check. The first one hadn't been completed, so I had to hit the panic button on the transcription portal to alert the weekend supervisor so it could be reassigned to someone else. The second one needed a lot of formatting correcting (in retrospect, I should have returned it to be redone, but I actually like fixing things like that). Three to seven were fine, no problems, and then eight was another incomplete one. It took me four and a half hours to get through them all when it should have taken three, so I need to get faster! I enjoyed it thoughI'm not quite sure how much I've earned for it, assuming it's £4 a file, then £24.
I've listed some more perfume sets (and relisted the one which sold-but-didn't) on the eBay free listing weekend - £99 if they all sell for the asking price, but I've got best offers switched on, so they might go for less.
I rode Finn this afternoon. The good news is that my saddle has now been ridden in enough to mould to Finn's back (it's got a flexible leather tree which takes a while to bed in), the bad news is that it's now tipping forward, so I'm going to need to buy the shoulder shims for it (the company thought I might not need them, because wide native ponies often don't, but I emailed them some photos of it after riding today and they reckon I do). On the bright side, the shims are only £20, so it's not bank-breaking.
Finn, of course, would much prefer to be doing this:0 -
Happy-looking horses
The one in front (Finn?) looks as if he's not only eating the grass, but smelling it as well. Not that I blame him, I love the smell of newly mown grass.
You may have to be strict with yourself and automatically send back incomplete files as, although you enjoy fixing them, it will slow you down. On this part of the job, your primary job is the proof reading, not the transcription. More completed files for you = more £££.
Also, the company needs to know when those allocated a job leave them incomplete because it could mean they're not reliable.0 -
Yup, that's Finn - he was more or less completely asleep there, he started dreaming not long after and was twitching like dogs do, bless him!
Both the incomplete ones were sent back straight away, it was the one that was complete and accurate but not formatted according to their guidelines that I fixed - it took me longer than I'd anticipated though.0 -

I've just finished tonight's proofreading shift. I've logged into the shift system and taken myself down to Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays until I get a bit quicker and can be reasonably certain that I'm going to finish around my scheduled end time (which should have been 10pm).
Off to bed, absolutely knackered, and the alarm is going to go off at 6 (Mr Minx doesn't get the bank holiday off). See you all tomorrow.0
