Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 touchscreen issue
Options
Hi all,
My wife's Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830's top half of touchscreen has stopped responding. My 1.5 year old was last seen using the phone (playing BabyTV games), so don't know what he has done.
She can now receive calls but cannot make any as she cannot unlock the pattern because the upper half of touchscreen simply won't respond anywhere to a finger press.
Even battery removal does not lead to bypass of lock pattern.
Can someone please help me to identify the issue/ failed component?
Many thanks in advance..

i think after 3 or 4 attempts or so ,the phone should tell you to wait five minutes to try again or unlock with a pin code that you used at the same time you put the lock pattern in,
it do's on ICS,
you might need a new screen toothere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
Samsung offer a 24 month warranty, so send it off for repair.0

Thanks for your replies. I don't have the paperwork so cannot send it for repair.
There is no pin code, even if there was we won't be able to enter as the touchsceen top half is not working.
Anyway, the issue is not the lock pattern but to get the touchscreen working again. Does anyone here know whether I need a new screen or just the digitizer or both?
P.S. The colour screen looks immaculate with superb colour display, there are no scratches, cracks, chips etc...

Hi
These are really easy to replace - I've done it on my sons phone twice now (he dropped it both times) Instructions are on utube. Buy via ebay. The most recent one was item no. 130666184047.
Very good price(£12.99/ free delivery and very well packaged.
Good luck0 -
Hi Yorksboy,
The listing you have mentioned is for a Touch Screen Digitizer. Were your phone's symptoms similar to mine?
Do I still keep the same screen and only replace the digitizer?
Thanks.0 -
You wont need paper work to get it repaired, they can check it's age from the IMEI.0

Hi
No the glass was broken. But this repair replaces both. This assumes that it is the digitiser/ screen at fault. If I were you I would try the warranty route first! If Samsung won't fix under warranty the you could try replacing the screen.
Good luck0
