Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 29th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Looks like another nice day here, got a small wash on, which I will get dd to hang out, still resting here, had a very restfull day yesterday, I am seeing the Dr at lunch time, so fingers crossed I get the all clear for our holiday.
Not much going on today, in fact I shall be doing nothing till the Dr, dd needs to pack a few more bits, and I shall oversee the packing of the toiletries, I would also like her to clean the fridge out before we go.
Dinner tonight will be sausage, bacon, egg and beans, using up all the odds and ends.
Nmlc, I do hope today goes as well as it can xxxx
Good luck to all those with proms tonight.
Have good days all xx

I think its her revenge for me 'spoiling' her birthday.......
Islandmaid - you didn't spoil her birthday, she managed that all by herself. You just took action to stop her bad behaviour continuing
NMLC - I hope everything goes as planned today and that your family can then move on when today is over. :grouphug:
RedRuby - hope your ear is OK enough for your hols.
Flutterby - Congrats on the PGCE! DS2 is waiting for his Masters result - am hoping I get to see him graduate again!
Not much OS going on - will be shopping later, WM has been on. Am hoping our roofer comes today, they are holding up other work on the house due to the dreadful weather.
DH is working in Newcastle this week - it took him 5 hours to travel 12 miles back to his hotel at the Metro Centre last night because of the awful flooding. Luckily the footie was on to keep him occupied while he was stuck in the car!
Right, am off into the shower - will pop in later for a catch-up
Love & hugs to all who would like one,

Morning :hello:
Thinking of you today nmlc.
Mr tru is off today so I'll get nothing done. He's booked tomorrow off as a holiday so he'll be here for three days in a row. Nightmare.
We need to go shopping, just fresh stuff though so shouldn't spend much.
We paid a bill for master tru and he's paying us back weekly. This is the first week where I can put a bit of it into my fund so I'm excited about thatBulletproof0 -
Aw floss2 poor oh. I had a day's work on wednesday in newcastle. Travelled down by train. Coming back i managed to get a cheap upgrade, my first ever travel 1st class
so was very relieved i hadnt been travelling thursday. (i have ad the opportunity twice before -1st time a company i used to work for in london sent me an a colleague on a training in oxford cos i was ungraded i had to go 1st class and cos she was grade 10 she had to go 2nd class i sed dont get m a 1st class ticket then but they were very rules is rules. So i sat in 2nd class with a 1st class ticket. Daft! 2nd time i was doing a consultancy job andh company offered me 1st class. But it wasnt available on my train boo hoo. So 3rd time lucky (and now realise how lucky i was!)

Morning everyone,
nmlc thinking of you today.
floss hope OH has recovered from his travel traumas.
FB well done.
Islandmaid it wasn't you that spoiled the birthday, it was her behaviour. I too am envious of Sistercas and Pooky. My DS had his prom on wednesday night and although he looked lovely and grown up it is just not as exciting as when your daughter goes to a prom, I will just have to wait until it is DD1s turn.
I saw the Olympic flame last night.:D It passed really near where I live and the rain managed to hold off while we all lined the street and cheered. It was a lot more exciting than I thought that it would be but it was over in a flash.
DD1 rang last night to say that she had arrived safely in Germany and that she was watching the football......Oh dear!
Tea tonight is HM pizza.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning all,
nmlc thinking of you today.
Doing a mystery shopping job this morning, got to go to PC World and pretend to buy a laptop. Then having my hairdresser's daughter who isn't very well today. She's six and a lovely little girl, we do things together and I get free hair care for looking after her, so I think I get the better deal:T
Not sure what to have for dinner today. Had a lovely lunch out yesterday.
Enjoy the day all!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning All
nmlc - My thoughts are with you today.
Floss - Hope your DH has a better day today, thinking of all those folk suffering with the weather.
Islandmaid - Things will sort themselves out I hope, you will have plenty of times in the future to celebrate with your DD.
FB - Congrats to you and what a lovely thought from that parent, we all make a difference somewhere and you have obviously made a big difference to that family's lives.
It's not raining here for a change but it's not too good either. I have put the towels on the line, you never know! I have cleaned the bathrooms, 2nd load in WM.
Waiting for the chimney chap to arrive to do a smoke bomb test? Hope it all works otherwise the chimney will have to be lined. As long as it's safe I don't really care.
More housework today and then work at 5. Take care. XX0 -
morning all!
didn'y gt time to read or post yesterday as it was a very exciting day here! we bought a camper van:j:T:T:j
we're collecting it Saturday afternoon - cant wait to get started on kitting it all our for our first trip:).
nmlc - all the best for today x x
RR - fingers crossed for your Docs appointment x x
We had the most awful weather here yesterday - a poor local man was swept to his death in the water and the roads were awful. We almost got flooded at work - had to man the brooms to keep it out of the bungalow. I was so glad I'd got to work just before the storm and didn't have to drive in it.
Plans for today are
make a shopping list
make a list of camper van things we need
cleaning/laundry and ironing
Work for me at lunchtime so its a busy morning.
(((hugs))) to those in need of them
Take care all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hi all,
Thinking of you nmlc.
Hugs to anyone who needs them.
Not a good start to the day - DD2 gone off to school in strop. Wants to on her brother's birthday, I said she can but she has to stay and celebrate with us so it may be 8.30 -9.00ish before she can go. Que big scene -
DD2 can DS3 have his party another day?
ME No he wants it on his birthday
I told her she was being selfish and she stomped off through he door. Am supposed to be taking her to see a horse she has been riding tonight and now I really don't feel like it unless she apologizes. She's becoming a pain in the rear lately with the attitude goodness knows what she'll be like next year when she becomes a teenager._pale_
Anyway off to do a clean of the now defrosted freezer -fingers crossed it works cos I've feeling it won't.Frump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Morning all,
Thinking of you today nmlc.
Its my sons school prom tonight. Suit is all ready for him to put on. I cant wait to see him in it. I had a major drama with him yesterday as he put his foot down and said he didnt want his hair cut. He's never put his foot down before and it was quite unexpected but thankfully his sister has talked him round. I was torn between letting his own individuality shine through (and his hair looking like a scruffy mess) and expecting him to tow the line after his Dad has spent £70 on suit hire and paid £40 towards the party bus for him and his friends to get there. Hubby was no use whatsoever when i discussed it with him on the phone last night and just sat on the fence but as i told him, we might as well have bought him a new pair of jeans, t shirt and leather jacket if he was going down that route. I just wanted to put my foot down but thankfully i didnt need to.
I still feel pretty rough due to the beta blocker the doc has put me on. On top of that i seem to be breaking out into hot sweats.... Oh jeez am i a mess!
Did most of my household jobs last night just need to vacuum throughout and prepare our evening meal. I think hubby will be having pork (his favourite). I will be eating lamb (my favourite) and son will probably have chicken (his favourite).
Hope you all have a great day all and it keeps dry for us all. Many hugs :-)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
