I won't be able to open a bank account there from UK.

Ok - then leave it in the UK bank account / open the foreign one / then transfer the money?

Do you know someone in the other country who has a bank account that you can transfer the money to?

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

All you people telling him he should "do this" or "do that" instead, why don't you just answer his question? Do children get an allowance too?

Ok, OP you can take as much cash and declare it at the port of entry to the other country as you like but be aware it is the most risky method of moving money and it is the most expensive. If you can't prove where it came from at the port of entry it may be confiscated. Money transferred electronically cannot.

Yes, I know many people but can't trust them at all. They will keep my money to their account forever.

    Oh yes it can.
Many countries have money laundering legislation in place and banks and other financial institutions may be required to inform their coountries authorities of transactions over a certain amount. (The figure in the UK is £10,000).

If you are asked to prove where the money came from and you are unable or unwilling to do so, then there is a possibility that the money will be frozen until this can be established.

My question was without declaration how much money can we, a family of 4, take from UK to outside of EU legally. I know the rule of my destination country.

I also know the risk of carrying bank draft or TC & how much it cost.
  • The HMCE website gives a fair bit of info, but there are still a few points missing. (for example, it doesn't state if it is only adults who can carry the money).

Your best bet may be to send them an e-mail by using the link at the bottom of the page.
If you don't want them to have all of your details, simply send the e-mail using a ficticious name and set up a new Yahoo e-mail account for this enquiry.
