HMRC PAYE end of year late return fine

I've had a letter asking for a £100 fine for late submission of the end of year return. I thought I'd submitted it through the PAYE tools system but think I must have just done the test submission although I received an acknowledhment. I immediately submitted the right version as soon as I had a reminder from them earlier…

i had real problems doing our year end online submission this year, i'd done a test submission without even realising it, then the actual submission looked like it had failed no matter how many times i tried it. it took about 4 phone calls to HMRC before it was cleared up & they could confirm safe receipt of a full admission. they even said that the online messages are confusing for the end user! i'd definitely appeal against it, good luck
