Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best

Just because it's free don't mean it's good

    Ditch Norton Now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall:

Just Because you read it some where don't mean it's right ;)
  • My sister had virgin and they put aload of stuff on your system without telling you. I'd steer clear of virgin if i was you. As i said in the previous thread Tiscali are good and cheap.

I recently returned to BT for unlimited downloads, service is good as long as you don`t need to get in touch with the dreaded offshore call centres.

Stay away from Tiscali. Shocking ISP Registar & look on their own forum at people complaining. Most complained about ISP on ISPreview

    http://www.ispreview.co.uk/new/complain/complain.shtml

    Compare ISP's at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isp/compare.html

Remember with broadband if something goes wrong or you need help, customer service goes along way. The bigger companies tend to be poor where customer service is concerned. Be wary of companies who lock in on a 12 month contract. If there service was good they wouldn't need to do this.

The best compnaies I have been with are:

    http://www.metronet.co.uk/

and I am currently with http://www.lixxus.co.uk/ who are excellent.

Oh & if you want the best provider (if you can afford it!) check out http://www.zen.co.uk/

I kicked Tiscali into touch about 2 years ago. They are useless in terms of performance speed and customer support.
I switched to Zen and couldn't be happier. You actually get to speak to somebody who knows what they are on about if you need help.

Maybe they were talking about the Virgin/ Blueyonder help and instant support tool that you can put on your pc to assist with connection issues.

I highly rate the Virgin/Blueyonder cable service, not used the ADSL version though for non-cabled areas.

2Mb broadband and a cable modem for £10 a month for 12 months.

If you can get cable broadband in your area its the best option to go for and the speeds are reliable.

Over the phone line it depends on distance from the exchange and line quality etc - Cable connections deliver the speed they advertise.

I've been with Demon for a couple of years and found them pretty good overall.
Their £19.99p.m.Home 8000 yearly contract package is "unlimited" at up to 8meg. speeds but they do operate a fair usage policy of 50Gb downloads over a rolling 30 days after which they throttle you down to sub 1meg speeds until you behave for another 30 days.
Had a spot of bother when moving house due to being double billed but they did sort it eventually. Their C.S seem to be sourced mainly abroad and tend to read from scripts but the service has been very reliable in the sticks where I live. Loads of E-mail addresses but no Web Hosting and IP addresses are not fixed on the cheaper package (another fiver if you want them)

    What about Eclipse Internet?

Their Evolution Option 1 seems good at £14.99/month. Up to 8Mb speeds with Unlimited Downloads. Again has a fair usage policy of 20Gb at peak usage time.

Anyone got this and what ya think??
