this is just another example of people being too thick to use a smart phone - if you dont know what you are doing with it - dont buy it! so many of these posts now are the result of people being too thick to operate the phone!

That may not be correct - the phone was supplied by Orange, tailored to Orange (including probably an Orange logo on it), presumably locked to Orange, the contract is with Orange, and connections are via Orange.

The only thing that is done is some Orange branding, preset network information such as SMS service number and also setting and locking the network ident flag in the firmware to Orange.

Orange sell the product, including its config.

The customer's contract is with Orange.

    The warranty is with Orange.

Orange are responsible for the product as delivered to the customer.

Is it a San Fransisco? My best mate had exactly the same problem with her Orange PAYG (Dolphin) on her San Fransisco 2. She discovered its something to do with the wifi, apparantly. If you set it to Orange wifi it charges you even if you're on your own wifi network but if you set it to your own wifi network it doesnt. Seems its unique to Orange branded phones as I dont have that problem with my BlackBerry. Mate has gone SIM only and changed her settings now and she says its fine.
