Afternoon,
I have a lexmark Z515 which is a great printer for what we use at home but the ink is crippling me with 2 kids printing schoolwork etc, so I was thinking would it be better to buy a new printer with ink cartridges that are much cheaper to replace, I've tried refills and copy inks in my lexmark and nothing is a good as the originals so any ideas on a basic printer for text/pics and odd photo maybe? that has cheap original cartridges?
many thanks

I only use Epsons for this reason. This one looks reasonable.
Cartridges from North Devon Ink.
Refill inks from Aktiv Direct, matched to your printer.
Chip resetter from Ebay.0 -
I really like my Canon Pixma and this newer model seems just as good

The ink isn'g too bad either

you could always use epson compatibles for b/w work and minor pics and original ink for photos but use a chip resetter to show levels of ink are full..0

I have an HP and you can buy individual cartridges for them for £7 (cheaper from ebay) and you can choose just to replace the black etc.
Hope this helps:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -
The general rule with inkjet printers seems to be that the cheaper the purchase price is, the higher the cost of ink is. The cheapest printers are loss making items; the manufacturers make their profit on selling ink.
Given the large number of prints you are making, perhaps a laser printer would offer better value - they tend to be more expensive to buy but cheaper to run. For example, the Canon LBP5000 Laser Shot appears reasonably cheap at Dabs.
Alternatively a cheaper B&W laser printer could also prove cheap for outputting text, but would be unable to do colour. I noticed that the Dell 1100 going cheap at SterlingXS.0 -
Hi all
I needed some new cart's for my lexmark X1150 so I go with https://www.choicestationery.com
as they are cheaper,
but also if you send them back the empty's you get £5 for each empty off your next order,
also I bought a new lexmark X3350
which only require's 1 cart at around £18,
the other cart is for photo's which you don't have to put in,
cw
Pls be nice to all MSer's
There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.

If argos still have any the DCP-115c was going for £40 refils (4 carts) about 10er for all 4. Its an all in one printer copier scanner.
If not you could try the DCP-130c (i think) at £60 from argos, refills about 12quid for 4 carts.0 -
