Hi im currently in the process of leaving talk talk and going with a sky deal.
I have TT for internet and phone, and will be getting skys tv,phone and BB.
I have received a letter from talk talk saying that in addition to my final bill there will also be a further bill a cancelation charge of £103 for ending my contract early, without actualy giving any info and breaking that down and stating exactly how many months etc i am being charged for.The reason i say this is as far as im concerned for the last 20months i havent been on any contract and have been month to month. The story starts in 2007 when i took up a BB and call deal with Toucan they were then taken over by Pipex (fair enough) pipex then changed to something called opal and back again before finaly being taken over by talk talk. Now i used to regularly get renewal deals through near when my term ended however since just before pipex turned to opal i have had no contact appart from my monthly bill,no detail in letters, no emails and so on.
My argument is as ive had no indication of a renewal offer and notification of the anniversary of a contract so i must assume i am just on month to month billing.
Obviously talk talk will not be getting £103 from me but where do i stand with this in terms of law and can talk talk realisticly claim this charge from me even though i never get contract details?
So far i only have letters from them i havent talked to anyone im not keen on phoning customer services as i like to conduct business like this by letter and have a paper trail for my records and as i gather phoning talk talk cust services is a long and pointless task anyway.

You are 'on a contract'until you give your 30 days notice and see that period out. The question here is when (they claim) you extended your minimum term, which only a phone call is going to begin to resolve. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
