Holiday money incorrectly charged

Seems that you too need to learn to read. Nowhere does it state that the card was credited.
Otherwise the OP would not have mentioned about being asked to pay the difference.
It's a simple rate mistake which the high street travel agent should take on the chin, for the sake of a few pounds.
stephb34 has been caught a few times pushing her employer's brand of Prepaid Mastercard on this forum, even though it offers poor value against the recommended cards.
So yes, I think that she should mention that she works for the travel agent in question.
Unless the op comes back and tells us exactly how the money was wrong, it doesn't look like we'll ever know, how do you kow it was simply a rate mistake, it doesnt say that in the post. Nowhere in the original post does it say it was Thomas cook so what exactly do you mean by "Your Lot" and like i said if it was less than £20 the TA would probably have stood it, which makes it sound like it was for a lot more. If large errors are made most shops of any type would ring the customer and ask if they would kindly return to the shop to rectify the error, it is then the customers choice and morals as to whether they do.
As for the prepaid mastercard i have suggested it a few times, its an option for people, i don't think in any of my posts have i declared its the best option, merely if you get TCs best rate its quite good and its convenient. Quite often people like convenience and aren't always after the best product which maybe harder to get their hands on, the more suggestions people have the better they can then make a choice.
I'm not quite sure what your problem with me is as you seem to like to comment on my posts regularly, at first i thought you must work for the opposition, but after abusing several people in the industry obviously not.0 -

I realise that there has been some debate as to the interpretation of this statement. But in principle, if a travel agent were to use the 'wrong rate' in carrying out a FX deal, subsequently realise its error, it would have no legal basis for demanding the difference. The OP is correct, it is just like buying something from a shop.0 -
It never ceases to amaze me how many people never return with an update to their original posttravelover0

Having read and reread several times the original post, I now agree with agrinnall.
If it was only a rate discrepancy between buy + sell of 100 Euro I think they would just have written it off.
What I think has happened .....
They have loaded +charged him for X amount of Euro on a cash card and then given him 100 Euro cash but mistakenly refunded his debit card 100 Euro at the buyback rate instead of charging it at the sell rate.
So in effect he really owes 200 Euro0 -

Let's not get sidetracked.
You shouldn't be recommending that rubbish card on a money saving forum when there are clearly better alternatives readily available.
That shows an unacceptable bias.
As to me "commenting on your posts regularly", perhaps you can point us to the previous time other than on this thread?0 -

This is getting exciting....where on earth is the OP?

Probably on a bender with 200 Euro:D0

i feel that this is what may have happened, as i did exactly the same once when i was in the bureau.
the FX person has put 'buy euros' into the system, instead of 'sell', and this way the rate will show a higher rate ie £1 = E1.4, giving E140 for his £100, instead of E120 for a 'sell' rate of £1 = E1.2.
In this case, the difference will only be E20, but could be totally wrong.
Stephb34, you just need to create a signature to advise you are a travel agent, and that will show under every pst you do.
