Hi
We eventually have the surveyor coming this morning.
Would it be normal practice to ask I there was any problems after he has finished ?
Also is there anything I should do while he's here - I was just planning on keeping out the way.

You can ask him but he won't tell you. He is contracted by the purchaser, not you, so won't be at liberty to discuss his findings with any one else.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

You can ask but he almost certainly won't tell you. You aren't paying him and he won't want to get into a discussion with you about problems.
Just let him get on with it and wait to be asked for anything he may need.

Indeed, depends on who he's working for - you or someone else?0

Thanks for the super quick replies, yes we are the sellers. I have never sold before so I wasn't sure.
Thanks again

You can't really ask outright if everything's OK, but IME if you're friendly and a bit chatty they'll probably give you a hint. (On the way out, the guy who did our survey wished me luck with the move in a v smiley and meaningful way!)0

I agree with what's been said. It's not his place to tell you, but you could always try a "how's it all looking" throwaway comment.mumofthetwins wrote: »Also is there anything I should do while he's here - I was just planning on keeping out the way.0

Well the guy has just come and he had a few questions, what's included in the sale, age of house etc ..
He did seem a bit miserable though, I will ask if he wants a cuppa though when he gets down stairs

I'm sure an offer of a cup of tea would go down nicely.
I did that.
'nothing to worry about' he said.
His report said 'Drain collapsing under conservatory = £5k off'.:(
I split it 50:50 with the buyer.0 -
yeah you will soon find out if there is a problem, when the purchaser starts asking for money off !0
