Disaster! My IS is being stopped because they didn't receive my paperwork on time, I sent it over 3 weeks ago. I phoned them up and the lady said that you cannot appeal the decision and monies will be paid in due course if I qualify. Also said, if it causes me hardship then she will send me out the relevant paperwork but it could be another 4 weeks unil I receive that! I feel for people who really are on the breadline and this happens to them, how on earth do they survive?

Hi all, I've decided to sell all my craft things as I would rather have the money in the bank, looking through it all I can say I've got thousands of pounds worth of stuff so I started putting it on e*ay last night, going to aim to put 20 listings on per day all at sale price and combine postage then it appeals to more people, does you good to have a clear out x

You sound like me so much it's scary! I spend a lot of the weekend catching up on sleep, although I do work 1230 till 630 on Saturday in the pub. I used to work the same on Sundays as well, but decided never having a day off was awful. Sundays are very precious to me now. I do try to use some of the time to work on stuff for my Etsy shop then as well.

Blockbusters is a great idea for a second job, with it being an earlier finish. I used to open the pub and then work right through to close at 130 in the morning and that was awful. Now I've been there for nearly 4 years it's much better as I get to work shifts I want a lot more.

I was the same at Xmas - I ended up with two weeks off my main job and only a few pub shifts, I had so much free time I didn't know what to do!

Do enjoy your time away - you defnitely deserve it :D

Sorry for going on so much, just so nice to find someone who knows how rubbish it is :o

Hi Beccie, sorry for my delay in replying, been a busy old week so far, and I'm not even talking about work! Trying to make sure I have more in my life than just work so going to the gym every night I'm free now and been making some new friends there, and went to the cinema with a friend last night (for free, as they have an unlimited card and it was Orange Wednesdays) :rotfl: Hope other people are aware of that nice little freebie?

Yes, it does sound quite a lot like we're in the same situation! It's nice to know I'm not alone in slogging my guts out in more than one job! Annoyingly I don't have set shifts in my second job, they change every week, so that makes it hard to fit anything regular in around it, like a little cleaning job or whatever. It's not a bad second job though, and I get x10 free rentals a week! Not that I ever have enough time to take that many, but it means if I have free time I can always watch a film for free.

I've been looking at your signature and you've paid off a LOT of money in a very short time... I'm going at a rate of about £5k a year but yours is much more... any tips on how you've done it you can share?

My parents have offered me moving home as an option but I'm not keen, and it wouldn't work out that much cheaper due to extra commuting costs, having to put stuff in storage, etc.
Beccie & DBG i know how you feel - i work full time with a (round commute) of 2.5 hours and i also used to work 2 part time jobs as well which was approximately 15 hours a week not counting the travel time and i'd be doing as many MS's as possible. I now only have my f/t job and try for MS's but they've pretty much dried up - plus i now won't do the ones where the report alone takes about an hour and payment is only £2  I do *need* another job for the income - my f/t work is low paid and when you think i'm spending over £100 a month on travel costs its  - it wouldn't be so bad spending that to get to work if i liked the job or if i was well paid but as its neither of them i am hoping the right job will come along for me soon *fingers crossed*

DDFW - I hope you find something soon, sounds tough :(

  • I've been offered a Paypal card... Aesop I think you said a while back that you have one? Is there any info about it you could give me, as the email they sent doesn't explain it too well...

I'm thinking it would be useful for paying postage when sending Ebay items as I could pay it straight out of my profit rather than having to find the money elsewhere.

That must be such a pain not having any set shifts at all - that's good, that's made me more grateful that I do!

I have found cleaning good for the flexibility though - I do it privately not working for a company or anything. Both are for single guys who have a lot of money but not much time or inclination for cleaning! I normally do a set day each week for them but they have never minded if I move it a day or so each way if necessary. Once you get started word of mouth is handy - I could be doing another 2 or 3 places, I just decided to draw the line somewhere.

Unfortunately no tips at all other than what you are already doing :( My main job only pays 21K so it has always been about the extra income for me. I've just been a bit all or nothing about it I guess - I've gone between 100 hour weeks and not spending a penny beyond rent and bills to spending 2 months volunteering in Borneo whilst I've been doing this. Unfortunately I don't think I make a good debt-free wannabe story :o

    Morning all!

£68 to add - £28 on call (no idea why it was more this week, perhaps something to do with tax) and £40 boot sale money I've finally banked.

Weather is meant to be rubbish this Sunday and we're busy next Sunday so a bit disappointed for bootsaling.

MUST get Facebook things listed tonight for sure!
