    About 130,000 miles.

How can I be sure before committing money?

If you've done 40k in the car and they've not been changed, its a good start. About £40 for a genuine set and they're the kind of thing where you buy genuine ones if you're planning on keeping the car.

Just a quick update, I ordered a set of (Unipart) plug leads from Halfords at about £38. When they arrived, the rubber 'bungs' were too large for the holes (in the manifold?). The leads were about 75mm too long too. I sent them back as they weren't going to fit. Our local Ford garage wanted a total of about £90 to order each lead separately (who would want just one or two anyway?). They got the bums rush and I went back to Halfords and ordered Bosch ones at £78. The cables were too long again but wasn't too difficult to 'lose' the 75mm surplus. The problem has now been rectified, thanks Notmyrealname. I don't have any clout with spares suppliers, so I can only pay the prices quoted.

Also GSF and Andrew Page are other good names for car parts.

You've saved a lot on Ford/some garages doing it though so don't deserve complete discredit.

My nearest Eurocarparts is 20 miles away.

    In exactly the same circumstances:
20 miles to get there, find they're not stocked, so order them, 20 back.
20 miles to pick them up, 20 back.
Find they don't fit: 20 to get there, refund and order Bosch ones, 20 back.
20 to get there to pick up the Bosch leads, 20 back. Job done.

What could I have saved by travelling 160 miles? A tenner?

The sensible adult in Eurocarparts would have got the part correct in the first place, unlike the spotty teenager working for Hellfrauds.

Even when it's on computer in front of him and me? The computer was wrong, and Einstein would have ordered the wrong leads too.

Don't buy from Halfords. They're far too expensive.

Try Unipart. I just Googled what I think you want - £21.55!

picking up the phone would of saved you over 100mileshttp://www.eurocarparts.com/delivery-information 20 miles away? I'm sure if you ask nicely they will send a driver to you when they have a delivery for a near by garage.

I fail to see which reply has caused you to launch the toys out of your pram with extreme velocity, you've got the names of some good factors for next time too.
