My boyfriend used to have socks like this. Constant black fluff all over the carpet...drove me crackers! Bin 'em I say!
Toe jam!!Even after washing all OH's new (cheap) socks several times with those lint collecting balls and tumbling he still looked like some werewolf-footed freak at bathtime :rotfl:
I've just relegated them to the 'emergency socks' pile and splurged £12  on 5 pairs from M&S. The reduction in toe jam is astonishing though...They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -

Probably a silly question, but have you tried tumbling them inside out?? Seems to work for my sons socksSome people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0 -
Yup, it creates toe jam on the outside instead, it seems to be something created by the friction of washing/ tumbling/ walking.
The Marks ones are great though, so we're both happy nowThey call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -
My friend got me and my partner matching egyptian cotton beige towels for Christmas. The fluff which would be stuck to us after a bath or shower was crazy! Basically had to go and rinse down again! :rotfl: Thankfully after a few washes they're absolutely fine now.Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

I'm willing to bet I'm the only one who throws dryer fluff out into the trees up the garden for the birds to nest with though
Had a similar problem with Ikea Raspberry towels. I'd had this great idea to tile the bathroom pure white, with gloss black surfaces and gloss white cupboards. Looks stunning. Plan was that I could change the towels and change the whole look of the bathroom with the colour of them.
I think OH went to work with raspberry dandruff for a week lol. It did stop after a few washes and I do dry with a dryer so that probably helped. Ikea ones do seem to shed less than others I've found. Recently changed to lime green from there and had very little fluff at all this time.0 -

Yay!!!
I've found some of it under the shed so I'm reasonably sure I have a very snug little field mouse in there
How sad are we? lol0 -
Will try the tumble dryer, thanks. I don't actually have one, but can use someone else's.
Regarding the price and them being 'cheap', I don't consider £6 per towel cheap either to be honest, but they're a lot cheaper than some others I saw. Apparently, people spend £25+ on a towel? As the cool kids say, oh-em-gee.0 -
Having a good old giggle reading this thread.
It would appear that dark coloured towels should come with a health warning.
Ours are aqua blue from John Lewis. A few years old now but I don't recall having serious colour shedding problems when they were new.Make £2025 in 2025

OP, forgot to say, if you are going to dump them, your local animal shelter would probably be grateful for them.Make £2025 in 2025
