hi. i jumped on the e7even broadband bandwagon a couple months ago when they were offering 2 years for the price of one. everything seemed fine at first, but now i'm getting more and more annoyed. it's been almost 3 weeks since we've had internet access at home (i'm typing this at the library). between tiscali (my previous isp) clearing the line and e7even setting up a new connection, we've had one long delay that no one told us about when we paid the £280 upfront. having an internet connection at home is very important to my studies. 3 weeks is a very long time to wait.
all i need to know is the number that i set my computer to 'dial' to establish an internet connection. i tried calling e7even to ask them this simple question, but was told that all of this info would be included in the e-mail that i will receive to notify me that everything is set up. well, that's fine except that i cannot check my e-mail without an internet connection. i tried to explain this to the customer service guy, but he didn't seem to get it.
can someone out there who's with e7even broadband please check this for me? this was i can at least try signing on from home a couple times a day. that'd be most helpful.
thanks in advance.

Hi,
I've been with three different briadband providers and have generally found that the 'number' you need to put in the box to set-up your 'dial-up' connection is 0,38 for ADSL.
Worth a try...

I joined on the same "extra 12 months free" weekend, moving from dial-up to broadband for the 1st time, and e7even got me online in just 8 days.
Everything about their service since has been fantastic.
Please don't let your early experience deter you.
Some basic information that you will need (I believe this is for ALL e7even users)
Modem Settings:
Virtual Circuit Identifier (VCI): 38
Virtual Path Identifier (VPI): 0
Encapsulation mode : PPP over ATM VCMUX
Assuming you are still in the library (or at least you can get back there) you could refer to e7even's Technical Support pages where you will find screen shots of the settings you will need to connect to their service and information on how to configure your modem.
http://www.e7even.com/support.html
Something you might need to obtain from e7even direct, assuming you cannot access the email that they would have sent you containing your setup details, is your IP ADDRESS.
Not sure if your previous ISPs used STATIC IP addressing but (as I'm sure you are aware) e7even do
You should know your account name and password since this is setup during registration. The email should have had something like:
Username: abc123xyz@e7even.com
Password: pa$$w0rd123
Static IP Address: 83.151.nnn.nnn (might not be 83.151..... but mine is)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
I'm not sure you can setup you PC & modem without the static Ip address.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.
Hope this helps.

Hi Reen,
Sorry to hear of your problems.........I am very surprised that you are having problems with e7even, I have been with them for some months now and can't praise them enough. I have read of problems with Tiscali being very slow in releasing the line, are you sure this is not the problem?
As other members have suggested, I am sure if you email e7 from the library explaining you need a VERY fast reply.they will oblige, as I normally get a response within the hour.

thanks very much for your replies, everyone. as of this evening, i'm still not online at home. i am not sure what the problem is, but i think it's a combination of tiscali being slow to clear the line (first they needed a month's notice to cancel my contract, then another 10 days to clear the line, whatever that means), bank holidays, and e7even being in the process of upgrading their system. it is driving me up the wall. i don't remember the last time i've gone this long without the internet. i'm totally dependent on it for everything, from research info to grocery shopping. i'm sure there are people out there who understand this sort of thing...
anyway, thanks again.

Sorry to hear you're not sorted reen...
I'm sure once you are up and running with e7even you will be as enthusiastic about the company as the rest of us seem to be...♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0 -
Reen, if you need to, then PM me with your phone number and I will try to talk you through it.
It is worth pointing out that ADSL is always on and that you do not need to dial any number at all.
Quoia has detailed all the modem settings that are needed so that should help you.
Do you have a broadband modem, or did you opt for a modem/router (wireless or not) ?
When do e7even say that you will be connected ?
Cheers
