I hate ebay and everybody and everything!

Just kidding, I have PMT and ebay has been getting to me lately.:p
I have been buying and selling on ebay for over 8 years and have 100% feedback - I would not be overly upset by a neg. but I do go out of my way to make sure the buyer is happy - I always describe and photo every little fault with an item and state that it is used etc. so people know what they are getting.
I also tend to over-pack things so they arrive in safely in good condition.
Lately it seems like all I have had is complaints - mostly from new-ish ebayers who are basically complaining that a used item is not "like new" even though I have clearly stated the condition. When people aren't happy I have been refunding including postage - after all, if I received an item I was not happy with I would not want to be out of pocket.
I don't ever want to be a bad seller but I have just received an email from someone demanding my phone number so they can tell me all about how they are not happy with the item I sent, we moved recently and I forgot to update my phone number - don't really want to do it now!:o
Last week someone complained because they bought an item late Sat. night (I stated in the auction that I would be sending the item by Parcelforce 24 which deliver Mon-Fri and if an item was paid for on Sat or Sun it would be delivered on Tuesday) so on Sunday night, exactly 24 hours after they had won the auction, they were demanding to know where it was as I had promised 24 hour delivery, how they were going to neg me, how I was an irresponsible liar, etc. They ended up giving me positive feedback as well!
I usually make about £200 a month selling our stuff on ebay and it's money we need but lately I feel like giving up - it seems like much more of a headache these days. Of course the negative people stay in your mind much more than the nice ones, I do have nice buyers too!
Just had to let off some steam, I take these things too personally.

Curse a little, deep breaths, count to ten and think of the money.

It does seem to me sometimes that when you get one grumpy buyer, you get several more in a run. Get through this difficult patch and wait for the nice buyers to find you again, you know they are out there!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks, I know you all are right, just feeling a bit grumpy myself!!:o

With our family circumstances at the moment I don't think there is any other way I could bring in the extra money, I know I just need to plod on.;):happylove0 -
As someone who has done customer service for nearly a decade I advise you to always remember: some people are just idiots and some will take their bad lives out on you. It's not nice to deal with at all, I really empathise. Plus I find on ebay there are some people who want excellent big business service for 1/3 of the cost and will whine and whine and whine until they get it.
Just think of the money and remember that you're better than the whining moaning sods with nothing better to do than kick off because THEY didn't read the description proplery.0 -
If you've been doing it for 8 years, keep at it!

Just remember this is only temporary.......at least thats what I keep telling myself.
Seriously, you have done well to keep 100% feedback for 8 years. Youre obviously doing plenty things right. Dont let a few miserable gits get you down.0 -
You sound like a great seller - keep doing what you're doing!0

i've noticed this over the past 6 months too. one buyer complained that the used clothes that i advertised had been worn and not new???? i wouldnt mind but they were listed in the used category with used in description.
another buyer left a neutral for a game with the comments - ok. on querying if there was a problem the buyer stated that they thought that +ve feedback was overly used on ebay, but there wasnt a problem with the transaction.
some idiots do come out from time to time, and i suspect that they do so when theres a full moonGive blood - its free0 -
