Anyone recommend good free virus protection.

After paying in PC world for Norton Utilities protection last year I resent their smug little email telling that I wouldn't be protected against viruses unless i paid up again. It smacked to me of the Sopranos and protection rackets. I know these people are in business but do they have to charge so much for it?

i use AVG which you can get free. https://www.downloads.com is good for searching for free software..anti-virus etc

Thanks for that folks. I have now downloaded it and it is scanning my computer now.

Always seem to mention this site when people ask for anything. It lists the best (in the authors opinion) anti-virus, firewall etc. Basically everything you need for your PC but for free.

Hope someone finds it useful.

I have just looked at the site and it's look's ok but how come it's free when norton and mcafee charge £50 a time????
