Orange Broadband - can anyone explain this ?

On Sunday 17th June, my Orange Broadband stopped working. I reported it straight away, but no quick resolution. On Tuesday following, whilst in the Orange shop complaining, the helpful guy got through to Orange Broadband and I was told that they had found a line card problem in the Exchange and replaced it.
Upon returning home, neither my Broadband not landline were working. This was not due to Orange, but down to BT who managed to render 5 of my neighbours and me without any land line service till yesterday (26th June). My Broadband was working intermittently but at a very reduced speed, when it wasn't dropping.
Upon resurrection of the BT service yesterday lunch time, we all got our landlines back and my neighbours' Broadband - with Sky and BT - resumed normally at full speed.
However, my Broadband is running at 0.24 mips whereas I usually get about 2.0. Contacting Orange, they tell me that they can do a reset, but my speed won't pick up to normal till Saturday 30th !
When asked why, I didn't get anything resembling any sensible answer.
So my question is this - is there anyone out there who can explain this crazy situation ?
I have got my MAC code but in our area, Orange seems to be the fastest ISP and I don't want to cut my nose off to spite my face, but dealing with both BT and Orange's off-shore fault teams is enough to bring on apoplexy.
