Someone (who is not a computer user) has asked me to sell their number plate on ebay because they know that I'm a seller - 2 questions -
I've never sold anything like this before, what are the pitfalls for selling number plates? they are hoping for around £4000.
Is there another platform to sell number plates?

I have seen them sold on ebay but I am aware that DVLA also hold auctions for those who want to sell off their plates. Might be worth looking into that also."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Car reg places offer to buy them. Depends what it is, I know I checked on DVLA cherished plate site a few years ago and got a price for my plate. Was more than i paid so its worth a look. Sorry dont have a link, have a google.
LauraHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
if you look in the back of national newspapers and find all the adverts selling private plates, a lot of them have websites where you can enter your reg plate and they will email you back with a quote of how much they can sell it for0

i sold my private number plate on ebay last year, although i have a feeling that it still belongs to me as i don't think the buyer completed the transfer process correctly0

Ebay's not a good place to sell cherished number plates. If you look back over the completed listings you'll see they don't go for much money and if you key some of them into the car reg online valuer things, they'll pay you more than what you'll get on Ebay.

i tried reg transfers for another plate a few years ago but i eventually sold via a for sale section of a forum i used
reg transfers contacted me the other week saying they may have a potential buyer if i considered reducing the price
i had already sold it a few years previously0 -
You could try Loot.0

If it's car specific then search out online forums for those cars. If it's Vauxhall specific, for example, then go to migweb forums and put it up in the For Sale section on there. :j
