Anyone know who sells flight only insurance for pensioners?

Options
Hi, we are pensioners who have family in Australia. We don't want to travel without insurance but are also aware of the reciprocal health agreement when in Oz.
We ave been befor and the insurance alone is around £1000 for us!!
If anyone knows a way you can just get insurance for the flight, to cover for any unexpected health issues or cancellations etc PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW.:T:T

When you say "flight only", what exactly do you want cover for?

One way might be to get a two day policy outward, and buy another similar in Aus before you travel back.

However, unfortunately I don't think a flight only [if you were able to find one] policy of this nature would be sufficient for your needs.

What if, worst case scenario, you were taken ill during the flight and it diverted to, say, somewhere in the Far East to get you into hospital? Unless you could find a policy that included this you'd be faced with the medical bills from whichever country it landed in, plus repatriation. And please be aware that doctors can insist that you are transported by air ambulance or no fitness to fly certificate.

Depending on what medical condition is involved sometimes there are specialist policies available from organisations and support groups concerned with it. Check their websites.

Sorry to be the harbinger of doom!

I helped my pal aged 85 to get travel insurance with Insure for All.
He didn't have to claim, but they accepted his existing health as long as no problem in the last 12 months.
