£180 +VAT per hour... this reminds me why I am studding to become a solicitor
)))
As I stated from the beginning, you can indeed ask for further more claims, on top of compensation for the goods sealed! Around 1k you will get just cause the LL did not protect your deposit! And then your solicitor can add to the claim the legal costs. You will have to pay him ahead of course, but then he can claim your legal expenses from the LL.
Keep me updated!
Good luck and don't worry, from my point of view this is a win!Some language constructions that might seam odd are to be ignored since English is not my first language, so surely I make mistakes. Any confusions, ask for clarification instead of jumping to conclusions.

Oh, it's for the best to use a solicitor! There are certain judges who lack the patience to address to people who are not at least legally trained! The last thing you want is to annoy the judge!
)) Even if judges on housing issues tend to be very understanding with people.
And then the solicitor knows exactly how and what to claim!!!!! Every claim must be supported by a certain breach of legislation!
A solicitor will always be able to get more! Your solicitor can get more in your case!

I'm sorry to hear that, mate. Sounds like a bad situation, you had kids to think about and an excessive bill through metres could have meant being unable to feed them, while you were trying to sort out 1) who should pay it (obviously not you), 2) stop the energy company billing you like crazy. I'm above to move to a private rental and in a way I am dreading it, as sometimes it seems like some LL or LA are out to get any penny they can from you. I'm sorry about all you've gone through, but hope things turn around for you, improve and you can put this awful experience behind you.
Wishing you and your kids all the best.0
