i'm taking one of these! www.whizaway.com the loos at T in the park are not the most pleasant... and you have to queue for !!!!!!! ages.

bear in mind that you have to carry your gear from the car to the campsite which can be a fair hike so don't bring too much stuff!! airbeds?!!

I do usually take a wee camping gas ring, it's nice for a wee cuppa or noodles just to keep you going and saves you spending a fortune on expensive snacks. but each to their own.

wet wipes are essential. can't recommend them enough!

also, ear plugs/eye mask invaluable for getting at least some sleep - the campsite will be noisy and the sun rises early in July!

don't bring anything of any value... keep your wallet in your pocket and if you decide to bring a camera keep it on you. you could padlock your tent zip to stop opportunistic thieves but if they want in they'll just slash it.

i know this all sounds quite downbeat but it is AWESOME and i CAN'T WAIT for this year's!! :) roll on july! (except for the loos)

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I will be making a list out including plenty of wet wipes by the sound of it!!!! I think the https://www.whizaway.com is a great idea :T I think we have decided to take a stove, cant do without a brew first thing in the morning/afternoon, especially after a late night( ) We bought a double airbed, a real bargain from "homebargains" (£9.99) its a bit heavy but i think it might be worth it. going to have a look around this weekend for some other gear, argos or millets, I'll have to see which is the cheapest!! Thanks again :A
  • I have not been for a while, but I would recommend

    1. Toilet roll - Absolutely vital!
    2. Mozzie repellant
    3. Hip flask..... .....and something to go in it!
    4. Possibly some ear plugs as they tend to be noisy places (In the past I would have been the noisy one but getting a bit older now)
    5. Something so that you can recognise your tent - They do all look the same especially after a few beers at night!
    6. Finally a headtorch - you cant drop it if you have had too many beers!
  • Bicycle puncture repair kit. In case of cigarette burns to your tent.
    And more wet wipes!!!!!!!!!

Waterproofs and suncream, festivals bring out the extremes in the weather! Lots of munchy food that doesn't need to be kept cold or warmed up, earplugs and more baby-wipes than you can shake a stick at. Have a brilliant time!

You'll love it, been to T for the past 7 years and it gets better every year. Got a few tips and add ons to all the great info you've already been given.

As people have said, toilet roll should be top of your list. And don't camp near the fences (or toilets as they're called once your there) or near the toilets (I won't tell you what they get called when you're there ;)) and don't camp at the bottom of a hill. At T all the neds camp pretty close to the entrance of the camp site in the Red and blue areas cos they're lazy and don't want to walk, my tip is to walk for about 10-15 mins and get further up the back of the site as there's less neds but still a great atmosphere.

Mozzie repellant - You don't need it, never even seen a midge at T but do remember anti-histamines as I've seen people barely able to see thanks to hayfever.

The car park is miles away from the campsite and you have to carry all your stuff a long way so take a fold up wheel barrow or something to put your stuff in to make it easier to move over rough ground.

Also gaffer tape is really useful for many things (tent repairs etc.) and don't forget your suncream! Even in Scotland it can get pretty hot.

Spend a little money on a decent tent, not a £10 job as it will let you down if it rains like last year. And if you can manage it take a pillow, makes all the difference. And once you've pitched it make sure you know where it is as it's VERY easy to go for a walk and lose your tent. And try to make friend with your camping neighbours as they can keep an eye on your stuff if your not around, if you leav anything outside your tent don't expect it to be there when you gat back :)

The campsite lighting is pretty poor so take a torch or somehting so you can see.

Also if there's only 2 of you then arrange a meeting place if you get split up in the arena as mobiles are pretty useless at T so don't rely on them.

Finally enjoy yourself and leave your life at the gates, the people are friendly and the atmosphere is brilliant.

That reminds me that in the old days we used to use a empty bottle for the men and an empty plastic icecream tub for women. Come to think of it thats still cheaper than buying a whizaway although you do have to use the containers in the privacy of your tent then empty them afterwards :D
I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.

or you could also use empty fabric conditioning bottles as the nozzle makes it easier to use & the fragrance is useful too

Ok I feel a bit more knowledgeable about festival going now, thanks guys and gals. I have compiled a list with you help, here goes:
1 – A tent (big enough for two Plus storage)
2 – An inflatable airbed (come on, you need some comfort)
3 – Double sleeping bag (easier to keep warm with 2 in the bed!)
4 – Lamp for in the tent (but must remember to turn it off before you know what)
5 – That reminds me Toilet roll & plenty of wet wipes (they really are good for many things)
6 – Camping stove, pan, cups, etc (essential for a brew in when you get up)
7 – Tea bags, coffee, powdered milk. (Essential for a brew in when you get up)
8 – Water bottle. (Essential for a brew in when you get up)
9 – Pot noodles, plenty of munchies.
10 – Money. (lots of it)
11 – Wellies, waterproofs warm clothes. (English summer)
12 – Towel. (after you find out your waterproofs aren’t that waterproof)
13 – Sandels, shorts and summer clothes. (English summer)
14 – Sun cream. (nothing worse than a burnt neck)
    15 - Camping stools.
    16 – Ear plugs. (
17 – A Whizaway and an empty bottle for the tent!! (Don’t want to be off to the loo in the early hours)
18 – A flag for the tent (I presume it will be worse than finding my car in Asda’s carpark)
19 – And some more wet wipes (!!!!!!)
    20 – Alcohol.
21 – Some more alcohol.(it’s a long weekend, Friday till Monday!!)
22 – A bigger car to carry everything in!!!!!
23 – Tickets. (that would be a disaster)
I’m sure my list will grow much longer by the time its July and then I’ll have to start knocking things off it else we won’t be able to carry it all!!!
Thanks again, who knows I may see some of you there……

  • Your head testing?

Actually I did some stupid camping trips when I was young too so can't really comment. Make sure you put your tent out of the way of anything flammable sleeping outside isn't fun.
Nothing to see here, move along.
