Just found this thread again and thought I would update you all..

I ended up putting I a claim and received 90% of my money back in this GAP insurance as I was missold it..

So always worth trying anything for yourself, regardless of people telling you that you can't do something..

If you try and fail, at least you have tried.. As sometimes you will win..!

If it was agreed that it was 'missold', why did you not receive a full refund plus 8% simple interest?

We are not getting the full story here. Mis-sale redress would see 100% of it refunded plus interest. 90% is not normal. Maybe it was a payoff gesture as GAP insurance is cheap and if the person was causing more trouble than it was worth, the dealer may have just decided to pay an amount to get rid of them. Or maybe it was linked to a new car purchase.

Sounds like an FSCS payout - the date fits (purchased 2007), they only pay 90% of any redress and don't pay 8%.
