EBAY its GREAT

just got my son 2 pairs of billabong camo pants and a long sleeved t-shirt, £58 off ebay, from the shop's, I have used these shop's before 1 in hong kong and 1 in the uk and there are great, just thought I'd share this info, my son bought himself a pair of billabong pants at christmas in the sale from a shop in the next town from us and they were £55 IN the sale, so I consider myself abit of a bargain hunter, I must admit though that I don't buy from just any body if it's not an ebay shop then they don't get my bid's unless it's a charity thing, just how I work, I have heard many people say that they haven't got the item's that they have paid for, and unfortunately ebay is no stranger from crook's, you just have to be carefull who you buy from.

Why oh why, did you buy from Hong Kong???
The stuff's probably fake and Chinese sellers are ruining ebay for British sellers, absolutely flooding the listings.
I would ask everyone NOT to buy from Hong Kong!
plus , what comeback do you think you would have?

I concur on most points 2 windswept.

Interesting racial question tho... tarring all chinese sellers with the same brush. Yet nobody on here complains.

Tho most will be fake, telling people never to buy from Hong Kong is as bad as the French refusing to buy British Beef ;)

Imagine being a GENUINE seller from HK, you would have a nightmare selling stuff for a profit. Nobody would believe it genuine for 1, and you would look really expensive, even if doing a bargain.

Dont try and play the race card with me sunshine, we british sellers have had the rug pulled from under us regarding U.S. sales, why should HK sellers be able to list here, I bet they can't list on .com. they should only be available when you have to search for them on worldwide or whatever, as american buyers have to do with us now. how would you like it if your listing cats. were flooded with over 500 indentical listings from HK? not best pleased I would imagine. especially when they say they are in the UK only for people to find out they are not!

Easy "sunshine". Like I said, I agree with most of your comments.
I also agree that foreign sellers should only appear if you tick "worldwide".
However, that was not what you argued in your earlier comment (even if that was what you meant). You purely said that people should boycott all HK sellers.

Strangely enough, I think it shows that you are a UK seller :P

    sorry
to have put the cat among the pigeons,
but I nearly alway's buy from ............the us or hk ........sorry british price's are just too high to pay, you can buy an abercombie fitch jacket here in the new shop in London just opened this week, for around £250, yet in the USA it is $249 big saving, and my son has expensive taste, his trainner's are £60 atime, but worth it, as they last alot longer than cheapo's from shoezone, and billabong is a surfing make, for a surfing lad, which he is, so why not get him the clothe's he want's for a reasonable amount, and most of the clothe's he wear's you cannot buy in england, he's a surfer and travel's all over the world surfing, in tornament's, he usually buy's most of his clothe's when he is abroad, it was just that it's his birthday on friday his 21st and I wanted to get him some clothe's that he would actually wear, and I am afraid that england is just so far behind the rest of the world for fashion, my son is a surfer fashion icon, so sorry, unless your ebay shop's for the uk are going to get these item's in for sale and cheaper than any high street shop, thenI am afraid I will continue to shop in the usa and hk,
    thanks

  • As windswept said most of the items from HK are likely to be fakes. I'm sure your son won't want to walk around in fakes.

If the price is too good to be true, it probably is fake.

Do you not have to be pay VAT and duty when items go through customs anyway?

I would imagine that items from HK are likely to be fake.
Items from USA are likely to be cheaper than UK, but could be expensive if you do get hit with customs.

Freedom of choice I suppose. Buy where you like, but buy genuine.
I bought a projector from Germany , which upset UK retailers at AVForums, but when it saved me £250... its worth it :)

I can not tell if they are fakes, the abercrombie fitch camo's and jacket both had the labels on, and tags from abercrombie, and the billabong camo's I have had before, and in the shop they are £59-£95, took them in and the guy couldn't tell the difference, so I don't think they are fake's, if they are, they are very good fake's.

    thanks anyway,
the new abercrombie shop opened this week in London but unfortunately if a jacket cost's $249 then it'll cost £249 here, so that's not fair at all, why does england have to charge such high price's.

I have not got a problem with people buying fakes, especially good ones, I'm still not sure if the A+F jacket I got for my daughter is real or not, but I bought it from a british seller on ebay. they do lots of A+F stuff and if fakes, they are good ones.
My problem lies with HK sellers who flood the listings with pages and pages of identical listings, the ebay limit is 10 identical ones! Of course, they are going to continue doing it if ebay just sit back and let them-whilst raking in the fees of course.
Ebay have absolutely no consistency in deciding which listings to pull, I had ONE removed because it offered "choice". I have since reported competitors (petty I know), for lots of very dodgy listings breaking more than one rule, and they have NOT been pulled-go figure!
I'm sorry if I came across as huffy and on my high horse, I think I'm spending far too much time on the ebay boards, they draw you in and make you crazy!:o

I do use worldwide ebay as I can't afford to pay the price's that some people charge, sometime's I can't believe how much people want for thing's on ebay, it's ebay it's meant to be cheap isn't it, or has that now been ruined by greedy people, I have been buying off ebay for year's, and am 100% happy with everything I have got off there, and yes I am sorry to if I came off as anything other than a buyer who like's ebay,
