Accident at Nursey

It's gut wrenching when your child get injured and I'm so sorry for you!
If it helps head injuries occur really easily and bleed profusely (tight skin and bones close to the surface) which can look awful but not necessarily scar.
Chance are by the time you go into the nursery tomorrow they will already be part way though an accident review and will be able to discuss any changes they plan to make, you should also be able to sit down and discuss your worries with them.
I've put 2 very clumsy children through nursery!Kate short for Bob.

Yes there are, but Im not being paid to look after other peoples children, if I was, I would make sure I had corner protectors.0 -
When my child was young she walked into a chimney breast wall in our own home and got a nasty cut on her forehead.
Accidents happen everywhere and mostly they are just that, accidents but it doesn't hurt to check with the nursery though I expect they will have checked themselves already.
I think there are many levels to feeling bad about this kind of accident, many parents feel bad that they were not with their children and that they choose the nursery and then over compensate with their wrath.
I think you need to step back concentrate on your child and think about your next steps. I am sure an ambulance chaser solicitor would take you on but is that what you really want?0 -

Like I said I doubt that I will put in a claim. And it would be my son getting compensation not me, thats up to him to decide when he is older, hopefully it wont scar in which case it wont be an issue.
Me discussing with them the safety and placement of the units may make the place safer.0 -
Its not that I would expect them not to have furniture, but surely in a nursery they should cover sharp corners?
Ask yourself if you follow that principle in your own home.
No coffee table? No table? No chairs? No kitchen units with doors that open? No window sills? No bedside cabinets? No skirting boards? No book shelves? No drawers? No hoover? No ironing board? No bath? No wendy house? No big plastic / wooden toys of other design? These are all things that a child could run into and injury themselves on.
If you bear the answers to those questions in mind, and still consider the nursery to be a 'less safe' environment than your home, then take it up with them. But a 'quiet word' would probably be more constructive than 'putting a claim in'.0 -
When I was in nursery (25 years ago) we didn't have nice modern units designed for a certain level of safety. We didn't end up going blind from running into furniture because we were taught not to run around indoors.
I'm sure you don't let your son run around the house in a way that could lead to him hurting himself or breaking things so why not teach him that it is the same in nursery.0 -

No, Im suggesting that if I was running a business centered on childcare, given how accident prone children can be, I would ensure risk of injury was minimal.
I would suggest nursery have an EQUAL duty of care towards my child when he is in their care.
Now who is being ridiculous.
As it happens the room where there are sharp corners is a room in which I dont allow the children to play.0
