Lloyds TSB deposited wrong amount!

Hi.
I have just been into my Local Lloyds TSB bank to deposit £1800 which I had sorted into £100's. She told me they can't accept money in stacks of £100 and told me to put it into 1 lot. So I did and passed it through. Anyway she collects it all and at the end of it she just says to me "Yep, that's fine" and hands me NO receipt. Anyway I have just got home and logged into online banking only to find £1600 has gone into my account
Surely if there wasn't £1800 she should of told me and not told me that it was "fine"? AND the receipt?
Thanks for reading.

I'm sorry, but who pays in nearly 2k and does not wait for a receipt, that's just madness.
Hoepfully it's an error and if you notify the bank they will be £200 over, if not. I'm not sure how you can prove you paid in what you say you did.0 -
I know it was very stupid but I was speaking to someone in the line and I suppose it just took my attention away. Also when she said it was "All fine" I presumed that it was all fine and it was all there?0

ask to view the CCTV0

How will the CCTV prove I gave £1800 in tho? It WILL prove she didn't hand me a receipt tho!!0
-
You should always ask for a recipt?
Have you contacted the bank with your concerns?Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
CCTV won't prove you handed in £1800. Also there is something about your op, which would make me question you if I were the bank?....your second paragraph. It dosent sound very definite you are 100% you paid in that much. Then not getting a receipt.
So CCTV isnt going to prove anything one way or the other, unless she is seen pocketing £200.
Hopefully you find her float was £200 over. That it was all a big misunderstanding.0 -
I know! they ALWAYS give me a receipt just the fact I was talking to someone took my attention away from it. But they should of give me a Receipt tho, shouldn't they?
And yes, I have contacted them and someone will be ringing me tomorrow.0 -
Won't prove anything and the OP won't be allowed to view it, only the police.christineperseus wrote: »ask to view the CCTV

When I've put in money before, they have mentioned that they prefer it in one bundle for counting reasons, and asked me to remove the money from the bundles, but once counted they ALWAYS told me "I counted £x, is that correct?". On one occasion, it was £20 short, and after putting it into another machine (counterfeit checking? decrumpler? No idea), it worked fine on the recount.0
