Lloyds TSB deposited wrong amount!

When I've put in money before, they have mentioned that they prefer it in one bundle for counting reasons, and asked me to remove the money from the bundles, but once counted they ALWAYS told me "I counted £x, is that correct?". On one occasion, it was £20 short, and after putting it into another machine (counterfeit checking? decrumpler? No idea), it worked fine on the recount.
Yeah I understand the 1 bundle thing but the strange thing is that she didn't ask me or tell me the amount and never handed me a receipt. The ONLY time this has ever happened and there is a mistake. They always tell/hand a receipt.0 -
Im curious, in all our mainstream branches over here we are called to a cashier location via electronic means and it is kind of a distance between one cashier point and the next.
Even if my friend was in a cashier location next to me (the odds?) then with 2K I'd be paying attention to the cashier and talking to my friend after we have performed our business (if it was more than a casual "hi").
It may be different in your location, I just cannot see how communication between cashier points can occur

Should of mentioned that he was with me and drove me to the bank. He was standing next to me at the cashier. It is a Bank and I didn't expect a Bank to be of the mark by £200 , the odd £10/20/30 quid maybe but not £200?0 -
Cash readers don't discriminate, so if you paid in 50's for example then a mis-reading of 4 notes would cause this.
Although the odds of this is quite small.
You need to ask for the cashiers reconciliation of their "logical Cash at Hand" against the "physical takings" which should indicate £200 more than what is keyed into their system.0 -
It was quite unprofessional of the Cashier not to confirm the cash total with you and odd that she did not give you a receipt, hopefully when she balanced her cash this Evening she would have been £200 over. First thing tomorrow Morning I advise you to contact the bank about this, to reclaim your £200! It was probably a lapse of concentration, she forgot to confirm the total and give you the receipt, then typed in the wrong figure...
I imagine that there will be CCTV focussed on the Cashier area, so if it comes to the crunch they will be able to check it to verify what you said.0 -
I'd be surprised if it supported anything one way or the other.I imagine that there will be CCTV focussed on the Cashier area, so if it comes to the crunch they will be able to check it to verify what you said.0 -
i once took my daughters bank book to the bank, paid in £100, whilst chatting to the cashier about bank accounts, he gave me the book back and off i went. Didnt think i needed a reciept as i had the book. Opened the book when i got home and it hadn't been added.
Rung up the branch and thankfully the cashier remembered me , as its a reasonably small branch , and they added it on.
Its worth ringing, they might rememeber.0 -
They will have an official log book with any discreprencies, so hopefully once the OP gets in touch with them, they will solve their £200 overage.
Im sure most banks do have the technology of CCTY focussed on the cashier area to avoid any scenarios of potential cash amount disputes.0
