We manage by talking about things we have done in the past, then deciding what we will do in the future. In summer 2016, we will fly to Paris and spend 2 weeks travelling to Carcassonne. It's not that long off and it gives us time to learn French in the meantime
Our last holiday was CARCASSONNE was amazing if you go for bastille day in July they have a massive firework display there have a look on utube.
No holiday for us - last one was 2010 we just got married and a honeymoon would have been nice
before we has DS unexpectedly we were planning to spend DH 40th in December in New York - we would rather have DS
New york would have been amazing though
when we have money - one day I want to go somewhere tropicalDMP 2021-2024: £30,668 £0 🥳

Try
1. Mountain bothies http://www.mountainbothies.org.uk/bothies.asp Very simple but dry. Can attract the drunken revellers. Try mid-week and out of season. Also be prepared to take a chance and pitch a tent if things do not look inviting.
2. House swap? or offer to house sit for a friend or family member?
3. Volunteer for a festival? A nicer camping field, food and music in exchange for a shift a day. http://www.efestivals.co.uk/info/jobs.shtml
4. Wild camping. Officially not allowed in England and Wales but in some areas you can tuck yourself and a little tent away in a corner and no-one will know. I have never been challenged. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Well we have just had a week away at Haven for £250 for all four of us, including spending money. OK I know its still £250 but we saved up and I am quite proud we kept it on budget.
We were lucky because DS2 had two teacher training days and we got permission to take him out of school for the rest of the week so the camping was only £16.50 a night. We already have all the camping stuff we need and we cooked our own food. I set a budget of £25 a day spending money and this was plenty.
The weather wasnt fantastic - and a tent in the UK is hardly a five star hotel somewhere hot and sunny - but it was still worth it.0 -

Hmmm Bastille Day, 14th July ... we could possibly do that if we changed the order around a bit
If you like celebrations and fancy somewhere tropical, Songkran in Thailand is one of the best times we have ever had. DH had decided that holidays are a necessity so we budget for them and enjoy. Debt is not coming down as quickly as it could but the sanity factor is worth it. This year we are off to stay with the In laws in France and 4 days with sisters in New Forest , cheap but cheerful and we mix eating in with one or two eats out in the week and treat the hosts.Start info Dec11

We decided to splurge and spend a grand (which was left to me when a relative died) on an all inclusive last minute trip to turkey in may so my little man could experience a 'proper' holiday before he starts full time school in September - I felt terribly guilty about the splurge although pleased we had not put in on a credit card as we would have done previously....
Anyway, second day there and Little Man gets chicken pox and we spent the majority of it in the room watching DVD's
Cheapie days out for us now and until the blooming debt is gone - don't want MSE karma biting me on the bum again :rotfl:

I'm house sitting for friends with animals twice this year. One in the city and one out in the sticks. Gives me a change of scenery and makes me feel like I've been away without spending a fortune
Proud to be dealing with my debts

Ha Ha I can relate to that - We were planning on spending my 40th in Vegas, only to celebrate in a local pub with a bar meal with 5 month old DS in tow :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:before we has DS unexpectedly we were planning to spend DH 40th in December in New York - we would rather have DS

Will probably end up camping for a few days if the weather is good in July - the good thing about living in rural scotland is that there are plenty of places to rock up and pitch your tent for free :j The bad thing is the rain and the dreaded midgies!!!Determined to get out of debt - all offers of moral support and advice gratefully received

I go LARPing. That's all the holiday I need, though a week in Ithica wouldn't go amiss...maybe on the honeymoon...if he ever asks...*sigh*
