We all need a holiday!

Ok, we're all on this board because we're either a) in debt or b) desperately trying not to get back into debt.
I really want a holiday, I bet you all do too! I even looked up some all inclusive holidays this afternoon, made me feel worse:o! So what can we do to replace that lovely carefree holiday feeling when we're stuck in the UK in the rain with not much money?
I would love to hear your suggestions!

Oh I want a holiday too!
I want to sit in a square in Cordoba or Santiago de Compostela, drinking gin and tonic and watching the world go by. Or go elephant trekking in Thailand. Or visit temples in Cambodia. Or swim in a mountain lake in Austria. Or .... or .... or .....
I may get a weekend in a tent if we decide we have to go somewhere, though with our current mindset we are more likely to put the £50 or so that would cost towards a debt.
We manage by talking about things we have done in the past, then deciding what we will do in the future. In summer 2016, we will fly to Paris and spend 2 weeks travelling to Carcassonne. It's not that long off and it gives us time to learn French in the meantime

*sigh* ..... me too!
Last "proper" holiday was in 1999 - yup! - it was a good 'un tho' but still far to long ago!
Since then it's been hols at home - last away break was a 2 night city break 3 years ago to a place I used to live.
Would love to try to find a wee place / caravan for me & the dog for a couple of nights when I'm off later in the year but doubt I'll be able to afford it.
Actually on hols next week ...... at home again:rotfl:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Well not really a holiday! But because we have small children we took them to a UK seaside town, we even got sun burn! (not the child)
We managed to claim back our full costs as the hotel made a few mistakes - nothing too major but it was their policy and not ours.
So we only had to find a few hundred pounds for food and drink.
You can see my previous holidays in my signature !!!! :-(0 -

It's so hard watching friends disappear off on their hols and another year goes by and my 'holiday' is a day out to a theme park! I want to sit by a marina sipping pims and watching the world go by...Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0

Lol Sista! At least you know the error of your ways!
I love the thought of sitting in a sunny square drinking g&t or by a harbour drinking pimms. Next weekend I'll be sitting by a tent glugging wine trying to keep warm for 2 nights!! Last time we had to hold a brolly over the BBQ so hoping for better weather . . .Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020
