It's true, I've had 4 Renaults and 3 of them never needed topping up.0 -
Once a month. Depends on mileage too though.
RX8 (with an engine that is actually designed to use oil) would need a small top up every so often. 2002 BMW 325Ci after that also used a bit which I found surprising. Nothing used on any other car I've had.
High perfomance cars can use some. Turbos can use some.0 -

Or maybe mis designed so that it uses oil,:D:D:rotfl::rotfl:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
My VW Bora 2.0 petrol (146k miles) needs toped up quite a bit each month, according to the manual it can use a ltr/1000km. It has done this since I got it 8 years ago from my father at 24k miles (he drove it sensibly) so it does not bother me.
My Lancer Evo 5 on the other hand (~360 bhp) never used a drop!!5/10/12 : Mortgage Free0 -

I do have the fully-synth oil and filter changed every 6,000 though.
Ehhh, doesn't that just mean you're topping it up every 6,000 miles before you really notice if it's started using any?0 -

No, it means it hasn't used any in 6000 miles as the poster said, is it going to use none in 6k then a ltr in the next few?
There is so little to service on a modern car that a little more generosity with the oil changes can pay dividends.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Those Saabs have really weird dipsticks (like a short black plastic blob on a rod). If you've just done an oil change, it's difficult to know really just what level the oil is truly at. I can imagine it would be easily to slightly over-fill and not really notice that the car has consumed say the first half litre of oil or so, by which time he would have changed it all again.
Anyone seen that new "fun" car advert where they drive around with colourful smoke coming out of their rear ends? One of my former cars (a peugeot 405) used to be like that, except it would leave a big trail of blue smoke everywhere. As in literally a litre every 300 miles or so because of the leaking head gasket. Thank goodness for Aldi car oil.0 -

Well yes, if you have a car that does use oil, and the engine is fubarred, otherwise get good stuff.:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
