Thanks very much for your advice, will look into indoor digital aerials. I'm not very techie and would like to stream Netflix through it, would i need anything specific to do that?

If I can attempt to summarise the above, what aerial (indoor, loft or outdoor) you need depends on your proximity to and the power of your transmitter.
I am 6½ miles away from mine (100kW on all 6 multiplexes) and can receive all muxes with an indoor (unamplified) aerial pointing through a window on the transmitter side of my house. However, I still lose signals when people move around in the room and so I had an external roof mounted aerial instaklled.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
