If you can't beat em...... EAT EM!!!

Yep, went with the microwave version!:o felt too lazy to and too excited to make it the long way! Done it for 2 mins in the microwave and cake was completely cooked through.
Didn't add bicarb as didn't have any in the house, was going to use baking soda but thought it might make a cake disaster!:o
I think I might have added too much buttercream, because although they rounded well, my hands were really buttery when I was rolling them!?:o
The buttercream recipe I used was also too sweet so might need to use less icing sugar next time. Can I do that without losing the buttercream texture?
Thanks again, off to taste them now, should have set by now!;)
:T:T:T:T Well done!
Baking soda would have done the same job but if your cake had good rise without it then no need  Microwaving is sooooo good isn't it?! Just think of all that money saved heating the oven too
:o:rotfl:
Yeah that sounds like a tad too much buttercream. Don't worry, very easily done
(many times!) When I've done it in the past I've either added more cake....or crushed up biscuits and added the crumbs! (Really they're so versatile, bakerella even made them with Oreos
)
Which buttercream recipe did you use? 1 part butter/marg to 2 parts icing sugar + dash of milk if required? I'd suggest the buttercream tasted too sweet because there was a little too much in the cakeball rather than the recipe if you followed this one. But yeah you could omit a little icing sugar, especially in cake balls as the consistency of the buttercream isn't as important as if you were icing a cake
I added sunflower oil to my chocolate but found it got thick again after a bit. How much should I add?
TIA
In what way did it get thick? Was it cooling down? I often have problems when the cake balls are straight out the freezer and being dunked in melted chocolate because it sets so quick and you can start getting thick lumpy chocolate as the excess drops off in the bowl. Therefore the best way I've found to combat it is to make the cakeballs just firm, don't leave them in the freezer longer than you have to, keep the chocolate melted, sometimes I melt it repeatedly, I don't melt much chocolate in the bowl at one time, I do it in batches andddd do thin, quick coats rather than a thicker coat
I'd say maybe 2 teaspoons of oil for 50g chocolate
maybe a little more  I just try and get it to a thin consistency but making sure it still tastes nicely

OMG! They seriously are delicious! Mine is still kinda frozen but still taste great! Definitely making them again and using the left over buttercream, going to add food colouring to it and make pink cake balls!:rotfl::D
Thanks Fudge Cake!
You're welcome
:T:j Glad you enjoyed!
But just a teeny note....if it's frozen at all, you've left it a tad too long
The filling should still be nice and soft :A xxx 'There are people who have money and people who are rich' :heart2: Coco Chanel0 -
