ok, can people not write posts with large writing and excessive amounts of smilies in please?
It disrupts the flow of the thread considerably and in addition affects the eyes of some people. Future posts like this may be removed.
Ok, thats me in trouble again - 1 minite for every year of your life sat on the naughty step
If I dont put a smile in my post how does anyone know weather I am being serious, jokey, happy, annoyed, embarrased miserable or sarcastic or ironic??? Or a combination of several
Normally I would put a wink in at the end of the last line
What is large writing? I cant change the font size but asume there is a way and now I want to experiment ...
Are exclamation marks still allowed?“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

the school says it has a nil tolerance on name calling for any reason and its part of the agreement the pupils sign as he has admitted calling names he has broken his agreement so has to be punished. he should have reported the other boy.
the other lads punishment was 3 lunchtime detentions..
load of rubish if you ask me..
Please don't flame me people, honest opinions were asked for here.
why did he use "stupid leprechaun"? You said yourself the lad was big so I doubt it was a dig at his height and can only assume the boy is Irish? If so then it could be seen as racist name calling rather than just name calling and the school would definitely have to be seen to respond to that one
You said you don't feel your DS did "much wrong" so I think you can see that although he did really well in walking away he still did something he shouldn't have
They got different punishments to reflect the different seriousness of their actions. It would be different if the school made them both do the same number of detentions but they didn't do that, recognising that the other boy was the instigator and did more wrong
Personally, I wouldn't take it any further, I would leave it as it is. I certainly dont think you need to speak to him as he did really well in the circumstances and is clever enough to recognise exactly why he got punished without anyone explaining it to him or talking to him about it. He knows to try and refrain from name calling in the future but it won't always be easy in the face of such bullies.
PS I think it's absolutely absurd that a school would get children to sign a contract!!! :eek:Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -
mhoc, you can still use smilies, of course you can!
It's just excessive row after row of the same (or even different) smiley which makes the post huge, and the very large coloured fonts used sometimes that are the problem. See post number 1964 for an example of what I mean.0 -
