They got different punishments to reflect the different seriousness of their actions. It would be different if the school made them both do the same number of detentions but they didn't do that, recognising that the other boy was the instigator and did more wrong

Personally, I wouldn't take it any further, I would leave it as it is. I certainly dont think you need to speak to him as he did really well in the circumstances and is clever enough to recognise exactly why he got punished without anyone explaining it to him or talking to him about it. He knows to try and refrain from name calling in the future but it won't always be easy in the face of such bullies.

PS I think it's absolutely absurd that a school would get children to sign a contract!!! :eek:

i did ask for honest opinions and i respect everybodies opinion..:)
the other lad was actually using very bad language and using anti welsh names with remarks about sheep..:eek::eek:
all which my son ignored it was not until being shoved against a wall and then on the floor with the other lad hitting him that he used the stupid leprechaun phrase in a bout of anger yes the lad was irish but my son under normal circumstances would never have said that . i would like to challange anyone in similar circumstances not to lash out ..

I think maybe it takes a lot of time and effort for some members, some members real life is complicated. MMW popped in and hopefully fudge just having a wee rest.
