So annoyed with sons school:(, they have given him detention for inappropriate behaviour over a known bully trying to get him to fight he refused and walked away several times the lad shoved him then was on top of him on the floor, very big kid, ds3 mates dragged him of and ds3 called him a stupid leprochaun.(many witnesses backed this up ) he was praised for walking away and refusing to fight and for being truthfull about what happened but punished for calling him a name, (would nt we all in that position ) I am supposed to talk to him about his behaviour but he is a well behaved quite lad never been introuble and i dont feel he did much wrong what do others think i would love an opinion.

    Tell them to Foxtrot Oscar!

I would tell them your son won't be attending the detention and you'll be reporting their action to the governors.

Tell him for taking his punishment like a man he's going to get treated :)
    Spoil him rotten!
I'd tell him you were proud of him walking away, and that you think the school got it wrong this time. Explain it's hard for the school cos they have to be seen not taking sides etc. HTH

they do lunchtime detentions so already happened, today
the school says it has a nil tolerance on name calling for any reason and its part of the agreement the pupils sign as he has admitted calling names he has broken his agreement so has to be punished. he should have reported the other boy.
the other lads punishment was 3 lunchtime detentions..

load of rubish if you ask me..

My answer is exactly the same as FK;)Something similar happened to my DS years ago and I told them he wouldnt be attending the detention and after a few letters and phone calls to the head of year it got sorted out. I took a lot for me to kick up a fuss as I know kids will be kids but that school will know exactly where the real problem lies..
