Yes no problem. There was talk of a few cards charging for Paypal a couple of years back but I think it is all sorted now, I believe it was due to their Lux base.

ebay purchases on a CC through paypal do not count as a cash advance.

  • I have been doing this for years without incurring any charges.

After all, we are buying items not taking cash out.

Thanks but if you were crafty you could load your paypal account with cash say £500 from your credit card and send it to your wife as a "gift" thus incurring no charges. Than withdraw the cash.

I'm not sure whether you can load Paypal with cash from a CC? Thought that was just bank accounts? May be wrong though...

Paypal fees would need to be paid by one of the parties.

The question to ask yourself is, "Do I really want to add my credit card to my Paypal account when it's going to be the devil to remove?" Once added they are not removed through the online remove card function even after adding another card and validating it.

I have a prepaid card on mine.

Not sure why you say that.

It's easy to delete a card from a paypal account, in my experience.

Not for me it wasn't and there are threads on the Paypal forum which highlight the problem of removing a card. I had to telephone to get my card removed and even then it took a week.

    I was told the following:

You can't remove a card once added if that is your only funding source.
You can't remove a card if there is a pending transaction or continuous payment authority on that card.
Its not possible for a new card to become your only funding source for at least 1 week.

I added a new card, waited a few weeks, and then deleted the old one with no problems.

Never tried to load my PP account from a CC however. Don't think that would be allowed. I know someone who tried to send me a CC payment, and Paypal blocked it as I only had what they called a 'personal account'. I needed to upgrade my account to receive the payment, which I didn't do. The payment was eventually bounced back to the sender.
