He has sent us a copy of an invoice which states the ink is generic but we have not received this invoice the one we have is entirely different.

Even if your invoice did show that it was generic ink, it's irrelevant. The invoice wasn't generated until after you placed the order. What matters is that the listing on Amazon didn't say it was generic ink and did say it was Epson ink, therefore the goods are not as described.

Update

Spoke to Amazon on the phone and they can't find the generic ink in the listing and have suggested that we file the A-Z claim and they will investigate the seller to see if he has broken their rules.

Amazon were extremely helpful as posted.

You will find the seller will take the real ones out and sell them on to make even more money, nothing wrong doing this but it does need to be mentioned to the buyer beforehand

We have now requested that the seller send the original Epson cartridges that were supposed to come with the printer or we will file an A-Z claim with Amazon.

Just an update

We filed the A -Z claim with Amazon stating the listing was inaccurate and goods were not as described and therefore we had the right to return the item without paying for the postage and a full refund.

Amazon wrote back to us within 3 days and refunded us in full and told the seller to arrange for collection of the printer at their expense.

So the printer is being collected this week by parcel force on a day of our choosing.

So a good result.

(I did actually throw some legal terms in there but I can't remember for the life of me what they were now)

Thank you for all the advice and comments, Amazon were brilliant and they stated that they do not take kindly to sellers who breach terms and conditions with their listings, and said if they couldn't find the listing saying the printer came with generic ink they would automatically refund us, which they did.

As someone else said thet sell the original cartridges seperately, which is also very dodgy as they are often not full.

Also I believe that Epson will void the guarantee if non Epson inks are used.

At least you got your money back, makes you want to avoid a lot of these dodgy traders that sell through Amazon.

The way we found the item was using the main search box at the top of the web page and searched for the Epson SX535WD printer.

At the time it brought up the above link and I read the listing and decided to purchase the item, there was no mention about the printer coming with generic inks and still isn't on this page.

How is a customer going to see that the printer comes with generic ink if it is not on the listing page and hidden through a link which you have pointed out?
