Broadband & home phone deal

We are about to move house in ten days. I currently have the value package with Plus net and my home phone with BT. Any suggestions on a good broadband and home phone deal? This move is costing us loads so need to save as many pennies as we can where possible!
The last tenant at the flat we are moving into had a package with Talk Talk which she has transferred across to her new address. Does this mean that there will be an existing phone line and I can choose a provider?
