If it is a K series engine,they are known for air leakage problems due to the way they are designed. Also the original black plastic butterfly flap valve on the air intake was prone to warpage of the bore thus leading to incorrect airflow signals being presented to the ECU. This caused over fuelling and over rich running. The original black plastic butterfly valve was superseded by an alloy one..you need to check.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry).
