hi all am after some advice before i go to the garage. end of feb this year i brought a mondeo titanium x from hartwell ford. they had resprayed all the alloy wheels before putting the car up for sale. today i noticed that one of the wheels has peeled some paint, it's deffo nothing to do with me as i've been careful enough to avoid the curbs since the wheels looked brand new and didn't want to damage them anytime soon. if i took this back to ford should they put this right or can they fob me off ?

4 months down the line any damage/ peeling on alloys will be down to wear and tear. Either buy a replacement set from ebay/owners club or get your set refurbished. You should be looking at around £160 for 4 wheels to be properly tyres off refurbished.0

I can understand if i'd have kerbed the alloys and marked them myself. But surely the paint shouldn't just flake off after just 4 months0

They do a cheap job to make the car look saleable.
It doesn't last and you're left with a tatty alloy.
Thems the breaks with used cars. Used car dealers do this kind of thing day in day out. 3 months down the line you have no comeback and shouldn't expect any IMO. It's not hard to sort. Tatty alloys aren't the end of the world. If you want perfection buy a new set or pay to have them refurbished properly.0 -

Indeed
There are two ways of refurbish alloys - powder coating or spraying. Neither last a particularly long time, good jobs might survive a couple of years or so, crap jobs will flake as yours have done in no time flat.0 -
Cheers for all the info. I'll send the ford sales rep a email tomorrow to try my luck, if he says no then at least you guys have already given me the advice and ill go to a decent sprayer.

Dealer did a quick once over without prepping the wheels.
