Problems with Postage in eBay Checkout

I've noticed with our listings that if we have more than one option for postage
i.e. 1st Class Recorded £3.00 & RM Special Delivery £5.00
eBay's system in checkout will show the cheapest across all the postal options,
I thought it maybe just our listings.
I've just purchased 2 items from a major eBay seller (over 20,000 positive feedback)
& their postage for the 2 items should be:
1st Class £18.00
Special Delivery £33.90
I asked for a discount for combined postage as the maximum postal charge for Special Delivery is £18.50 (over 2Kg) & packaging wouldn't cost £15.40, they told me they don't discount for combine postage,
so I've selected Special Delivery @ £18.00

i cant see how you've done that, at checkout you can select the rquired delivery option for a drop-down list, and the applicable amount is re-calculated??0
-
I dont either, but we've noticed this problem for a couple of days
When you purchase an item with more than one Uk postal option it will give the cheapest rate for all the options even though it will be specified correctly on the listing0 -
Example: Item number: 230103453220
If you click the 'Buy It Now' Button (No Need to purchase as it requires immediate payment)
It has as the postal options:
Collection in person £0.00
RM 1st Class Recorded £5.00
RM Special Delivery £8.00
Proceed to checkout & select RM Special Delivery on the drop down box & hey presto its £0.000 -
its been doing it to me for the last few days and caused me some problems yesterday!
i sold an item yesterday, auction stated £2.95 2nd class recorded, £3.49 1st class recorded, £5.95 special delivery
i received a paypal payment for the item and it said £2.95 special delivery!?!
i emailed the buyer before i sent it and said there has been some error, postage costs were clearly listied in auction and if she wanted special delivery it would be another £3, but she would have to reply quick as i would be posting within the hour
i said if i didn't hear from her i would post by 1st class recorded instead of the 2nd class recorded so it would hopefully reach her in the same time as if it had been sent by special delivery
i left it an hour and did not hear from her so i sent my boyfriend off with the post.
20 minutes later she pays the additional £3! arrrgh. phoned my boyfriend and he had posted 10 minutes ago. i asked the buyer to phone me asap to discuss when she needed it and to explain the postage options and what had happened.
she phoned and said it was a mother days present and all she knew was that she had selected next day delivery and just paid the total. i had to explain that special delivery was guaranteed next working day not guaranteed next day and that saturday guaranteed special delivery was another £2 but i could not really do much as it had already been posted.
i am not sure why she was buying a mothers day present on the friday before mothers day and expecting to receive it on a saturday anyway, but she just had to accept that it might turn up today or it may not arrive till monday or later
i just hope i don't get bad feedback if it doesn't arrive in time.
thinking about it though, even if there had been no paypal error and she had paid the correct amount of £5.95 for special delivery then it would still not have been guaranteed for delivery until monday anyway although there would be a chance that it may have been delivered on saturday.0 -
Yes, did the same for me when I bought something a couple of days ago. Gave £2 (the cheapest rate) for all 3 postal options. Must be a general Ebay software problem.0

eBay where notified by us 3 days ago & the glitch is still around
It was also reported on the eBay Powerseller Forums on the 8th March, strange that eBay still haven't fixed it

i sold something earlier and had to manually amend all the postage costs and options so it definitely still isn't fixed0

i have just remembered/realised that i have been having another problem with international postage for a couple of weeks.
i have the correct prices and services listed in the auction but when i comes to sending the invoice it is defaulting to sellers standard international rate and the cost is just blank
so i have to check back with the auction listing, go to the drop down box for the buyers country and then enter the service and cost myself
i have not had that many international sales but i just recalled that it has happened a few times previously when i had to do it again just now0 -
Yep same here, we're mointoring all our sales & sending Invoices manually with the correct postage0

Pinks have replied to the Powersellers but still don't have a timescale for a fix
