Are the NHS actually recruiting at the moment? I see the Jobs advertised but have assumed, due to the cuts, that they are paying lip service to the law and that the roles are going to redeployed staff? The World come on.....0

Good luck to the OP I hope you're successful in your job search and secure a position soon.

Advice telling people to tailor their answers to the job spec is useful to some although I'd suggest that if someone needs to be told that they haven't got much chance anyway!0 -

What is the NHS recruitment process??
After how long do they respond?
And do they tell you if you are not successful?
Applied for about 20 jobs with them in the last ten days and not had anything back apart from the automated reply saying they have received my app..
Thanks
I have applied for 4 over the last year or so but they all say NHS expereince is prefered but I still apply as I see accounts the same in all industries.
I heard back on all of them but this was months after I applied and it was just a standard email they send to everyone with no reply email address to obtain feedback.0 -
Wasn't thinking of you although you did generalise a bit much. Somebody said if you haven't heard in three weeks you haven't been shortlisted which may be true of some places but certainly not all.

20 jobs in the NHS in 10 days? Wow are there that many you can do?

I entered a number of locations and different positions (Its worth trying as you never know, till you try) as I can relocate easily got family scattered here and there who will put me up till I sort myself out.:j0 -

But really are you saying that you didn't know that you had to show how you meet the job spec? If so here's what I do. I print out the job spec and then I write my blurb in Word on computer ticking off each item on the job spec as I cover it, explaining how my past experience shows that I can do all of the criteria. I don't do titles and lists as some do, I prefer to do a narrative piece. When all the job spec is ticked off I know I've covered everything.0 -

I'd hazard a guess that you've never recruited in the NHS then! A lot of applications that I've had you'd be hard pressed to guess whether they'd even read the job description or advert.
YOU may consider that I'm teaching someone to suck eggs, but if anything I've posted about how the process works in my area and what I look for in an application helps an applicant to secure an interview, then I consider it time well spent making the post.

All NHS vary so being told that it works like this or that is not useful. I have applied for several jobs in the NHS. Some will take 6 weeks to shortlist and just when you've given up you get an interview. Four weeks seems to be quite usual.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
