Blackberry 8520 scroll button not working?

Hi having purchased this phone for my daughters birthday about 6 weeks ago, the scroll square button does not work,shall i take it back to argos or is there a quick fix for it.
Would the phone need to be sent away or can i ask for a new one thanks for your help.

Argos offer a 30 day exchange AFAIK so they would likely need to send it off for repair.0

Before you do send it back, get the edge of a piece of paper and run it all the way around in under the edge of the button. Sometimes a bit of dirt can get in there and stop it scrolling.
