I have 50% friends and family discount on my T mobile and I want to upgrade 6 days early as i am going on holiday for a while.
Before anyone says, I dont want to wait till I come back but i have been offered this.....
free white iphone 4s 32gb £30.50 per month, unltd mins, texts and internet
of iphone 4s 64gb for £49 with the same deal,
but i have to pay a £63 disconnection fee. The same phone on that plan is £29 on the website.
I dont think this is right considering its only 6 days early.
They are saying its because my plan is supposed to be £61 but i get the 50% off.
Anything i can do, you think? ideally id like to call back and argue a bit before i go pick it up in the shop

If you really can't wait, then pay the extra and go for it.
My OH was with T-mobile and nearing the end of her contract, just as she was going abroad for 3 weeks. She confirmed with them that she'd still be eligible for an upgrade after she came back and that they'd just extend her contract for another month. They did and she's now the proud owner of a Galaxy S3!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. http://www.billmonitor.com/ suggests that before the 50% discount you should be looking at perhaps £40 for a fairly generous iPhone 4s contract.
Have a fiddle with Bill Monitor to see what T Mobile would do for your usage as a new contract and take a print of that to haggle about the 50% off.
Also, I assume you currently have an older iPhone.
If so you probably know to turn roaming data off before going abroad (assuming the holiday is abroad). WiFi will still work if you do this and you won't be another person who tells their sad tale of a holiday then a big phone bill.
If you are going abroad (or even if not) now is the time to get your old phone unlocked by T-Mobile (costs about £15) as it will then be useful for use abroad (buy a local SIM) or more valuable if you wish to sell it.0 -
