Horse on dual carriageway = smashed windscreen!

I would have thought that any proper horse owner not of the travelling community would have public liability insurance.
I also cannot imagine someone could lose a horse for very long...what have the police done with the horse exactly if they can't find an owner?!0 -
I saw that trap racing on the dual carriage way on the news recently, it was a main road out of Dublin.0

This is the Dublin incident.

I don't know if the link is any good as I'm at work at the moment and Youtube can't be accessed through the LAN I'm using.0 -
that looks more like the guards had a bet on one of the horses0

basically hubby crashed in to a horse on the dual carriageway luckily just got a cracked windscreen and a dent in the 'A frame'.
Will have to pay an excess of £75 to replace windscreen through auto glass.someone suggested going to the scrapyard and getting ur done there. Can I do this and is it safe?would they fit it etc?
Thanks!
Never get one fitted at a scrappies. Windscreens on modern cars form part of the structure and are load bearing. Fit it wrong and you affect the strength of the car.0 -
something as bizarre as this must have been mentioned on multiple reputable news web sites but I can't seem to find any.
Got any links?

but I'll leave you to decide whether it is a "reputable news web site" though.0 -
